Goodman News By Rowena Hill The Goodman Home Demonstration Club The Goodman Home Demon stration Club met with Mrs. Carrie Carter, March 22nd with the president, Mrs. J. W. Potts, presiding. The devotional was given by Mrs. S. L. Bobo on “The Devil’s Tools.” The scripture was taken from 1st John 1 - 7 and Romans 8, 31. The min utes were read and approved. The president welcomed a vi sitor, Miss Margaret Brumby and a new member, Mrs. Bet ty Sims. Mrs. Bobo read an invitation from the Bolivar Farm Bureau to the Rice Cooking Demonstration to be in Cleveland April 4th. Mrs. Paul McCain, clothing chairman, introduced Miss Margaret Brumby, who gave an interesting and informative demonstration on how to press drip dry cottons and re gulating tension for sewing on all treated fabrics. Miss Christine Carjthers gave the study topic on “Op portunities in Leadership.” Her talk not only included 4-H Club work but many of the different youth organizations of the country. The meeting was closed with the reading of the Collect.' A delicious dessert plate was served during the social hour. Goodman Magnolia Club Has Meeting The Magnolia Club met Monday, March 19 in the home of Mrs. Sam Gvvin with Mrs. Paul McCain as co-hos. tess. Mrs. H. O. Thomas, was the program leader and presented a very interesting and infor mative program entitled, “To the Seekers of Beauty.’’ She gave background history of the art of hairdressing and the use of cosmetics. A display of old accessories to hairdres sing was shown. A contrast between the old and the new trend was demonstrated by Misses Linda Lancaster Bar bara Winstead, Helen Branch, Lethalia Mundy and Jean Chil ders, students of the Cosrno tology Department at Holmes Junior College. Mrs. Thomas reported recent articles that featured leading hair stylists and showed pictures of some of the latest styles. She gave j a fadial demonstration and passed out tips on makeup and skin care. The hostess served a delic ious dessert plate to the mem bers and guests. Mrs. Donald Entertains With A Bridge Party Mrs. Charles Donald enter tained with a Bridge Party for both men and women last Thursday night with 6 tables playing. Mrs. N. H. Derrick won high score for the women and Billy Mustin won high score for the men. Mr. Steve White head won low score. Refreshments of lemon chif fon cake with whip cream was served to the guests. Mrs. W. L. Young is in the Baptist Hospital at Jackson. Little Owen Upshaw hurt his knee at school last Wed nesday and was taken to the Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Thursday, he had surgery on his knee. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Belford of Little Rock were visitors of the Charles Donalds and Mr. I. U. Donald last weekend. Rev. and Mrs. J. B. Miller returned Sunday from a revi val meeting at Interprise. Former LHS Pair Slated For TV Two Lexington High School graduates^ Alvin Evans and Ellis Byrd, are members of the Mississippi State Univer sity Band which will present a special program on televi sion station WLBT Saturday at 11 a. m. The program is made up of selections from the spring concert tour which began March 28 and ends with the concert. TRACTOR DRIVING CONTEST SLATED A tractor driving contest for Holmes County 4-H 'lub boys will be held at the Lexington National Guard Armory Sat urday.
