a resident of Lexington, pas
sed away in the V. A. Hospi
tal in Jackson. The entire
community extends its sym
pathy to each of the families
struck by sorrow.
Mr. Marshall Bennett, Jr.
was home from Ole Miss this
past weekend for a brief visit
with his parents and friends.
Mr. B. F. Johnson has been
for several days a patient in
the V. A. Hospital in Tusca
loosa, Alabama. The whole
town expresses a keen desire
for his speedy return home.
The Tclrula High School
Senior Class left early Monday
morning for their Senior Class
trip to Washington, D. C.
Some, of course, couldn’t go?
but four carloads of seniors
and chaperones, about 20 in
all, departed on the week-long
excursion.
Both Mr. and Mrs. W. G.
Lowe have entered the Vicks
burg Hospital for a few days
for medical check-up and
treatment.
Mrs. J. K. Compton. Mary
Nell ana James R. Compton,
went to Jackson Sunday to
visit Mr. Compton in tne \.
A. Hospital.
Mr. J. B. Irving was dis
charged form the Baptist Hos
pital last Thursday and he
was taken to the home of his
daughter} Mrs. Hamp Jones,
for continued convalescense.
Mr. Ken Irving spent Sun
day visiting his brother, Mr.
J. B. Irving, and niece, Mrs.
Hamp Jones in Jackson.
Miss Sara Foose of Jackson
visited her grandmother and
other relatives here this week
end.
Franklin Ray, son of Rev.
and Mrs. Wilson Ray is
working with his two farmer
uncles, H. P. and R. C. Car
penter at Lake Village, Ark
ansas. Franklin was home
Sunday.
Miss Sarah Alice Fleming,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.
S. h leming, is spending a few
ua>s with her grandparents,

ter City.
Miss Christine Thomas Wed
To Mr. Marvin Johnson
In a simple, but impressive
wedding ceremony, Miss
Christine Tnomas, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Thoma
as of Tcliula, Miss., was mar
ried to Mr. Marvin L. John
son, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.
L. Johnson of Jackson, Miss.
The wedding was said in the
bride’s home *$n Horseshoe
Lake by Rev. Wilson Ray on
Saturday, May 19th, at 4:00
p. m. with members of the
bride’s family and a few
friends present.
j Mr. Weatherford S. Young,
state secretary of Gideon In
ternational, spoke in the Tchu
la Methodist Church, and Mr.
J. Rigg Vaughn, also repre
senting the Gideons, spoke in
the Tchula Presbyterian
Church. Each of these men
is a layman; Mr. Young is
a Baptist Layman of Hatties
burg, Miss., and Mr. Vaughn,
a Presby^erj Layman of
Columbus, Miss. At a later
time the First Baptist Church
will have a Gideon member
in their church here.
The local Presbyterian
Church had a Family Night
with a worship program and
supper - fellowship meeting
Monday evening of this week.
