The baby was tooorn Thurs day morning, Ma^rch 7th at the Portmouth, Va., hospital and weighed six pounds and seven ounces. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Downs of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Maternal grandmother is Mrs. Leon Armstrong and Mrs. W. B. Farmer is the great-g'rand mother. WEATHERBY LAD BIRTHDAY CELEBRANT Mr. and Mrs. Norman Weather9by Jr., honored their son, Norman Weatti^rsby III with a party Thursday after noon, March 7th, the occasion being his 4th birthday. Thirty little celeb rants gathered on the spacious lawn at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Weathersby Sr. for an afternoon of games and fun. The refreshment taible was centered with a white cake decorated with re0, white and blue rockets. Ice cream, cake, and cokes were served. Lipsticks were given to Hije girls and swords to the) boys as souvenirs of the happy occasion. Returns Home Mrs. Homer Davis has re turned home after an extend visit with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Guest and baby of Lawrence ville, Ga. Be,all are spending several days in New Orleans, La., this week. Visits in Greenwood Mrs. John Allen Cace is visiting her son Mr. James Holt Cade and family in Greenwood. In Hospital Friends will be sorry to hear that Mr. G. S. Love is a patient in the Kings Daugh ters Hospital in Greenville. To Kosciusko Mrs. J. H. Beall was a guest of her aunt, Mrs. J. L. Brewer in Kosciusko. Mrs. Jewell Knight was the leader of the program on “Religion”, after which she introduced tihe speaker, the Rev. Eual E. Samples, pas tor of the First JYJefthodjist Church in Canton. Rev. Sam ples is the only Mississippian and one of forty Methodist Pastors selected from throu ghout the United States to participate in the South American Evangelistic tour for one month. He gave; a very informative talk, illus trated with beautiful slides, in which he said great crowds attended each meeting and many responded to the gos pel. Especially interesting were the pictures of Brazilia, Brazil’s newest Capital City, beeing built with United States money. During tihe social hour the hostess, assisted by her dau ghter, Mrs. Lacy of Canton, served a salad plate and cof fee to 18 members and asso ciate member, Mlr.s. T. S. Humphries. Missionary Round Table Enjoys Luncheon The Missionary Round Table met March 1. at the Firist Baptist Church at 11:30 for the quarterly luncheon with Mrs. W. R. Henry and Mrs. W. C. Landrum as hos tesses. Each of the eleven mem bers were responsible for a dish. The tables were decorated beautifully with floweral ar rangements by Mrs. J. T. Neely. Mrs. H. E. Brooks, Jr. gave the devotional on "tire dan gers of jealousy," Scripture vv'is from Matthqw 9 : 38-42. Those present were; Mes dames H. E. Brooks, Sr., W. R. Henry, J. E. Brown, H. E. Brooks, Jr., W. C. Landrum, Mayfield Howard, R. E. Irby, Jr., Durell Makamson, W. R. Martin, J. T. Neely, A. L. Stevens and J. E. Sweaney. Castalian Garden Club The Castalian St. Garden Club met March 7 in the home of Mrs. J. E. Brown. The meeting opened with meditation by Mrs. J. T. Nee ly. The theme was "walk this way.'' Scripture reading was Eph. 5: 6-16. Mrs. J. E. Brown presided over the business, at which time plans were made for the Spring Festival. Date set is April 21st. The nominating committee presented names for officers for the next year. They are Mrs. Walter Duiiham, Jr.; president; Mrs. Walter Odom, vice-president; Mirs. P. H. Winborn, Recording Secre tary; and Mrs. D. M. Barran ce, treasurer. Refreshments of cookies and coffee were served to the eleven members present. Presbyterian YV.O.C. have meeting The Circle of the Women of the Church met at the Presbyterian Church March 4 at 3 o’clock. The circle chairman, Mrs. J. D. Alsbury, presided. Mrs. Agn^s Maury gave the emphasis for the Month, on “Evangelism.” The Bible study “King Tells Riddles” was given by Mrs. P. R. Roby. The nominating committee presented sames of officers for the year of 63-64. They are: Mrs. C. H. Mlanton, Jr., president; Mrs. P. R. Roby, vice president; Mrs. P. H. Beginning Thursday, March 21, there will be a story hour for Pre-school children each Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Holmes County Library in Durant, according to Miss Georgia McIntyre, Durant Librarian. Marvin McLellan, the 9^ge of the Sand Hills, rolled 'em in the isles while getting a cross an inspiring message as guest speaker at the annual Lexington Jaycees Banquet last week.
