Slates Classes
JACKSON - All classes at the
University Medical Center will
begin Sept. 4 with students in
medical and nursing school.
Accepted to begin freshman
work in UMC medicine and nurs
ing are 118 men and women, 30
future doctors and 38 student
nurses.
Orientation for new students
will begin Sept. 3. A welcome will
be extended by Robert Q. Mars
ton, director of UMC and dean
of the School of Medicine, in a
meeting of the freshmen medical
students. Miss Christine L. Ogle
vee dean of the School of Nurs
ing will give a similar address
to student nurses.
Newcomers To School
Newcomers to the medcial
school of UMC include seven
women, the highest percentage
in the nine - year record. The
M. D. aspirants represent the
pne - medical departments of Ole
Miss, Miillsaps, University of
Southern Mississippi, Mississippi
College, Delta State and five
out - of - state schools.
Comimencing their studies in
nursing will be 36 Mississippians
and two out - of - staters.
The new students will see the
opening of the new eight - story
$3,000,000 research wing this fall.
Construction is well underway on
the new Nurses Education Build
ing to be completed in 1964.

Students who were enrolled dur

have applied for readmission will
be mailed registration materials
and reporting instructions on
Sept. 1.
Former students who have not
applied for readmission by the
registration date for the fall quar
ter will be required to wait until
registration materials are pre
pared for their use.
