Harrison waived hearing and was released on a $500 bond set by Judge Donald Cumbest at the recommendation of Merle Palmer, county prosecutor. Complainant is an 18-year-old Pascagoula waitress who charges Harrison with the attempt early Saturday morning, July 16. Police Chief E. E. Blakeney said an affidavit was drawn by the waitress the following even ing and Harrison was picked up in Mobile. He waived extradi tion. Chief Biakeney said yesterday that the Pascagoula police depart ment is being criticized for the smallness of the bond on which Harrison was released. “I’d like the people to know," he said, “that the police have nothing to do with setting bonds." Mr. Palmer explained that he does not believe the bond "out of reason.” “Remember," he said, "this is a charge of attempted rape, not a rape charge.” D. P.'i FLOCK TO AUSTRALIA .
