Students Give
Yule Program
At Orange Lake

The annual Christmas program
was presented by students of Or
ange Lake school Friday evening.
A large crowd of patrons attended.
Following the welcome address
by Linda Bosarge a play was en
acted by sixth grade students
Vera Jean Roberts and Annie
Mae Ricks sang as a duet, “Sil
ent Night”.
“The Birth of Christ” was pre
sented in tableau by second and
third grade students and fourth
and fifth graders gave the play.
“Christmas in the Melting Pot,"
The Baptist church will give
its Christmas program tonight.
There will be a tree and candy
and fruit for the children. The
Sunday school will present a short
program.
Taking part in the crowning of
the king and queen at the school
were Rogene Mallette and R. V.
Wallker, Jr. .
Tommy Cicoria, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Cicoria, has been trans
ferred to Fort Warren, Wyo., from
Sheridan, 111.

and his family at Broome Sunday.
The Charles Wardrops attended
a football game in Biloxi Sunday.

seventh grade gave. “Watch for
Santa Claus,” apd the audience
joined in singing' carols.

Road crews have finished the
new road from Grand Bay to
Union Church. It has been black
topped and new bridges built.
They are now engaged in build
ing roads from Grand Bay to
Bayou La Batre.
More than half of all the fer
tilizer produced in the United
States is used by farmers in the
Cotton Belt.

Assigned To Texas
Cpl. Leonard P. Norman, hus
band of Mrs. Edna Earle Norman,
Kreole, was recently assigned to
the 97lh Bomb Group at Biggs
field, El Paso, Tex. He is an air
craft mechanic.
Corporal Norman was previous
ly at Keesler and Sheppard field,
Wichita Falls, Tex.
He served with the navy at
Midway June to Oct., 1946.

the substory of the church Friday
evening.

OLV altar boys •were enter
tained by a group of their moth
ers at a Christmas party in the
elementary school following their
regular meeting Saturday.
A program of carols was en
joyed after which the boys pre
sented gifts to Msgr. P. J. Carey
and the Revs. Gregory Johnson
and P. J. Hannelly.
Sister M. Joseph received a gift
a potted plant, from the boys.
Father Johnson gave a short
talk to the boys and their host
esses.
Starr, and Edward McRae. Others
honored were Harlan Hilbun, Jr.
and Jerry Furr.
Mrs. Fry, Mrs. Goodwin and
family and Mrs. Schurman, Miss
es Mary Alice McRae, Marlene
Byrd, Lillian Guillotte, Sigrid

included in the guest list.
After the 43 boys had been
served punch, Christmas candies
cookies and gifts were distributed
by Santa Claus.

Sumedinger, J. T. Clemens, Rob
ert Delmas, J. W. Martin and
Sam Leslie.
The ant puts solid food in a
pocket back of its jaws. The food
is squeezed, the juice is swal
lowed and the rest is thrown
away.
