To The Children Of Jackson County This has been a joyous Christmas for most of you with peace and prosperity prevailing through out our glorious land. • , Not so with children of many other lands, where five years ago millions of us—your fathers and bro thers—spent a dreary Christmas in the armed forces. A lot of things have happened since then, most of them for the good, but a lot more will have to hap pen before we can nail down the objectives for which we fought. American aid to Europe in its various forms has held off starvation and political communism, but unfortunately most of it has been cold-blooded gov ernment hand-out. Now, remembering how members of the armed forces befriended children of Europe during the war, even children of our enemies, you can join in a "TIDE OF TOYS" The Jackson County Post of the American Le t gion, along with other Posts in every Community in America, asks you to give a surplus toy to a child in Europe. It’s a small thing to do; but it will make for happiness and permanent peace. HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO Bring your surplus (not needed) toys to one of the following places: KOCH APPLIANCES, 304 Delmas Ave., Pasca cagoula. Miss. THE LEGION HOME. Market Street. Do not bring war-like, electrically powered or fragile toys- They must be packed and shipped overseas. Wrap each toy separately, so it will stand hand ling. Write on the wrapper what it is. IMPORTANT: Inclose a letter or note of greet ing. giving your full name and address. If the toy Isn't wrapped, attach the note in an envelope to the toy. The chief purpose of "Tide of Toys" is to let the children of Europe—the qeneration of the future_ know that they have re»l American friends. Such letters and cards can start » chain-writing and build friendships for years to come. The Jackson County Post will ship the toys to Philadelphia, where a ship will take them to Europe and distribution will be in the hands of CARE, which has an efficient organization in most Euro pean countries. Everybody Is asked to help. Not just veterans, but every organization. Churches and schools and other organizations are asked to make announce ment.
