Misses Kato King and Ar win Deweese left a few days ago for Martha Washington College. Misses Marnia Trapp, Be. atrice Hamill and Mary Joe Shields are attending the J 1. and C. this session. Misses Janie Majnre and Vera Turner of the southwes tern part of the county left here Monday for the 1. I & C. Mr, Barnett of Jackson was here Saturday in the in tu-est of Y. M. C. A. aebivi ti s. Mr. Tom Daniel of ArKan sas but a former resident of this place was a visitor here last Week. Our thriving neighboring town, Louisville is getting metropolitan iu her ways and is oiling her streets. Mr. Tom Cogland arrived here Saturday having spent the past two years overseas. Very few boys from this cou nty are now left iu the serv ice- Kev. J. C, Long had the misfortune to lose his hors 1 * aDw days ago. The horse took sick while driving along the road and died iu a few minutes. Among those going to the A. and M. College from here fire, D. J, Kush Jr., Hugh Wilson, Turner Catledge, Harry Burnett and A1 vis Mayo. An interesting game of baseball was played here Saturday evening between the Hope team and the local team. The local boys were ■outclassed, the final score being 6 to lin favor of the Hope boys. Our county is well represe uted at the University this session. Among those from the county are Mess. Ivey Peebles, Boy White, Loyd B tea zeal e, Andrew Gipson, Floyd Henson, Rufus Peebles and Misses Onie and Lottie Peebles. The home of Mr. F.. H Stanford of Deemer was tot ally destroyed by fire last Thursday night with all its •contents. The origin of the fire was unKiiowu Mr. Stan ford had gone to Jat-Kson on that day while the other members of the family with the near neighbors were at church. The home had been newly furnished and all was a total loss, thrre being ift) insurance c irried either on house or contents. Mr. .J. J. Daniel of DeKalh was greeting Inn many friends here Friday. M.vatt was srrekenwith paralysis last week since which he has been confined to his bed the most of the time. His many friends will be glad to’feaan he is somewhat improved and is now able to sit up a little during the day. -■ The grand jury adjourned Tuesday at noon after exam ining 109 witnesses and hud ing 17 indictments. The fin al report which is an exceed idgly good one will he pub lished in full next week. The Election Commission ers in'session Monday appoi nted J. B, Bassett, M. -S. Lewis, J. A. Thunas, Mgrs. and E. D. Banks as Bailiff to hold the special election in the Neshoba School District on Sept. 26th. B. F, Flint, J. 0. Thornton, T. P. Garnb iin Mgrs and W. F.
