Girls' Canning Clubs and Tomato Clubs Will Have Great Exhibit at Mis sissippi state Fair in Agri cultural Building. It Is difficult to tell at this stage which will outshine at the State Fair at Jackson this year, the Boys’ Corn ’Clubs or the Gtrls' Canning Clubsj but certain it is there has never been hold at a State Fair a more attractive or more instructive exhibit than has been planned by Miss Susie V. Powell, In charge of the girls’ tomato and can ning clubs in Mississippi. Miss Powell will not only show the product tills year, but will have as many of the girls engaged in this work as she can prevail upon to come to Jackson and make personal demonstra tions during the Fair, which opens this year on Monday, Oct. 2G, and lasts one week. Miss Powell is of the opinion that canning tomatoes and poaches im proves a girl’s looks much more than cold cream and novels, and intends to show "exhibit one" in the flesh and blood, which will include young ladies from all sections of the State. When this work was first undertak en in Mississippi tl.ere was a very lim ited allowance from the department at Washington, but it lias been gradually Increased owing to the remarkable success of Miss Powell with her clubs, until she now lias more than she can handle if it were not for her excep A. & 51.
