Spencer, who was for a number of years a resident of Water Valley, but who for the past several years has been resi ding in Memphis, was found dead in bed in a hotel in Holly Springs last. Thursday morning. He was on his way to visit relatives in our city. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and under the auspices of that Lodge he was laid to rest. Upon arrival here his remains were carried to the home of his father-in-law, Rev. C. Gr. Blount, where they remained until after funeral service was held by Rev. W. J. Derrick, when they were interred in Oak Hill ceme tery Friday evening. The tender est sympathy of our people is ex tended to his bereavement rela tives in their sorrow. Myers—Payne. Mr. Roy Myers, an enterprising young business man, of Brandon, and Miss Byrt Payne, an attractive and populor young lady of Water Valley, were united in marriage last Thursday morning at the resi dence of the bride’s parents in our city by Rev. W. J. Derrick. This was a surprise wedding to our people, being over and the happy couple ready to leave for their home in Brandon before | it was known.
