The North Mississippi, ijinnual Conference will assemble in regu lar Session i,n Water Valley next Wednesday morning at 8:30, Bish^ op H. C. Morrison presiding. Devotional exercises will be held, sacrament of the Lord’s Supper administered, and the members of the Conference put in a spiritual frame of mind for the transaction of the great work which lies be ^ fore them to be accomplished* in tpe next five days following, 'This will be the organizing ses sion, and after this Conference Will get down to work-in good earnest^ and it always has plenty to do, and strong minds and good hearts to do it. Tuesday night a meeting of more than ordinary interest to Water Vallians will be held at the First Methodist church, inasmuch as the North Mississippi Confer ence was organized in the city of Water Vailoy 39 years ago. This service will be held by the Missis sippi Methodist Historical Socie ty, and will be addressed by Revs. T. W. Lewis, J. W. Honnoll and J. R, Countiss. This will be an nen meeting to which all are in ? We are sure if .you attend +ing that you will be deep 4 with and interested <'•*" <)8. \ isek we will have some thing like three hundred preach ers and visitors in our city, and the work they are here to achieve, will make sacred history for com ing generations. . Let us give them a warm welcome from the warmest place in our hearts. Mr. J. W. Harley will be found announced in this issue of The Itemizer as a candidate for Alder man-at-Large of the city of Water Valley. An introduction of him by us to the people of Water Val ley would add nothing to his statue, for he is well known to the' entire citizenship of our city, as one of our best men—honest and true in his purposes, with a determination them to a successful issue. Me tg in favor of retrenchment and refcun, and is willing to put his effort into the accomplish ment of thisvend. He doesn’t fail to set forth his views on the ques tions of the hour. J. W. Harley. While attending^to his duties as switchman in the yards here Mon day, Sam Biles (colored) had the nnfef^rtune to strik| his head against the bumper of the switch O"nek which resulted, in his im iald"death. Sam was a good ^workman and a valued employe of the Illinois Central 'Ra'droad Oorhpany and his'tragic death is regretted. Mrs. Sue Connor left Tuesday morning for Carbohdale, 111 , (Jo be with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Glenn Connor, who became the mother of a fine boy baby Tues day morning. In addition to the list of those who will entertain guests at the North Mississippi Conference, Messrs. J.-D. Olinger and Lewis McNamee have taken two each, the.guests to be assigned later. Mr. O. P. Carry has bought the Becton place on Wood Street and will move in and occupy this week; Dr. and Mjs. E. L, Davis, of Central Academy, spent a few days in our city this week the guests of Dr. and Mrs. S L. Cox. .It don’t do any good predict about the weather.
