Vickery run so high the first Field Day, that he lost his head, lost his hat, paid Railroad fare twice on the same train, ate three meals and forgot to pay at all, and did many other things that deserved and received much favorable comment. I bought a horse of a man up north of here with the under* standing that the animal was sound. When he deliv* , ered the horse I gave him my check. It happened to be toward evening and he went back home instead ( of driving in to get the cash on it, I didn’t think f much about the horse till the following morning while \ plowing. I soon discovered he was off in the wind < and it made me hot under the collar I *went right ( to the house and telephoned you not to honor the i check if presented. Then I called up the man that < tried to do me and told him he could have the horse * back. He kicked at first but when I told him pay- ^ ment was stopped on the check he shut up. He took ^ the horse back that night. Miss May McDermott 5,905 ” In a few well chosen remarks Miss Freda was presented the beau tiful gold watch on the grounds Friday night at between lO and 11 o’clock, and in a most happy and pleasing manner, as is the custom with Water Valley’s accomphished daughters, she received the honor, and in well selected words, thanked the donor and her many friends who assisted in making her the Queen of the Carnival. Miss Claire Everette returned home Wednesday after a few days’ visit to Winona. Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Derrick, of Coffeeville, spent Sunday in our city the guests of Rev. and Mrs. W. .1. Derrick. The following veterans boarded the train here Monday at 11 o’clock to attend the Confederate Reunion at Mobile.
