Friday, April 27th, Battery “A,” Field Artillery, National Guard of tbe United States and of Missis sippi, was inspected by Federal Inspecting Officer, Captain C. S BUkeley, 2nd F. A. U. S. A, D. C. L., to see if this Battery was en titled to participate in the Federal Appropriation. While the Cap tain could not say what would be the outcome, he left the looal of ficers and men believing that they would soon be equipped and in Federal service, The present enrollment is 157, while 131 was the minimum num ber to form a Battery, Captain Nason states that he will enlist a few more men. Quite a number of our citizens witnessend “The Birth of a Na tion” in Grenada the first of the week. Special Entertainment at The Grand Theatre. The Water Valley High School Band have arranged with the Managers of The Grand for an entertainment to be given on the eveuing of Thursday, May 17th. In connection with the Picture Show they will have a pleaing pro gram. consisting of Readings, Quartettes eto., also a oonoert by Henry’s Band. An evening of pleasure is in store for all who attend. Don’t forget the date, Thursday, May 17th. I will pay you 5 Cents for each lO-pouub Molasses can with the top that is elean and iu good condition and 2 1-5 Cents for 5.pound cans. So save your Syrup Caus and sell them to me. A. B. POKIER. Meeting Closed. The Revivai Meeting which has been going on at the First Baptist Church for two weeks closed Sun day night. The preaching was done by Dr. W, E. Farr, of Blue Mountain, one of the most gifted aud spiritual minisisters of that denomination. Never were ser mons fuller of meat than those which Dr Farr addressed to the large congregations present, who gave earnest attention to his preaching of the word. £lis deep earnestness in the presentation of the truth entered the hearts of his hearers and both saint and sinner were stirred to deep reflection in reference to living more oonse orated lives.
