GOODS WAITED IDENTIFICATION Over Forty Suits Stolen by Goldman, Brower and Moran Recovered by Deteetives. , The office of Chief of rolice Murphy 1 this morning resembled the interior of a regular clothing store. Forty odd suits of clothes were spread out on chairs and tables. They were labelled and prepared for inspection of owners who might be able to identify them. All of them had been recovered by Detectives Frank Ben nett and Dan Lee, who rounded up the trio of professional male shoplifters— Goldman, Brower and Moran—who had for months been operating extensively In all the cities of northern New Jersey for a long waile. kd in this city for •bout four months. 'The two detectives worked on the mysterious case for about ■ week before they ran down the trio. Since that time they have been kept busy running down the suits of clothes stolen *ud pawned duping tbte foup months the trio was operating in this city. The fortv odd suits were mainly recovered in tne pawn shops of this city. It is presumed that in all, hundreds of •uitc will be recovered in the pawnshops of Hoboken, Newark, Elizabeth and Pat erson, although it is believed that many of the articles stolen in other cities were pawnedjn this city. In fact, the display In Chief of Police Murphy’s office was arranged in anticipation of a visit today of clothiers who were robbea in Eliza beth and Paterson. Ten of the suits recovered have been - Identified by Manager -..brains of the National Outfitting Company, of New ark avenue, as having been stolen from that concern, and -our suits have been identified by Herman Arents, of No. 381 Central avenue, as having been stolen from him. Most of the suits stolen by the trio Were pawned and the tickets torn up, and although Brower and Moran made a confession, the task of recovering the stolen property is by no means an easy one. A number of the suits were founi in^ the possession of Samuel Leif, a Pavonia •venue clothing dealer, who was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen gords. LeffIsays the men from whom they pur chased the goods deceived him, giving him a source for their supply Other than that of stealing. ' All four men implicated were today field in the First Criminal Court in ?500 apiece for the Grand oury. Counsellor John A. Charley Wing, the Mott street, N. Y., Chinaman, who Jumped from the Penn sylvania ferryboat Cinncinnati as the boat was leaving her slip on this side of the river yesterday morning, in an at tempt to commit suicide, died in the City / Hospital this morning. It is the first time in the history of the police depart % ment that a Chinaman has been known to commit suicide. It was said this afternoon that Charlie Wing's suicide was due to fear of meet ing Chong Wong Lee, a Chinese tea merchant, of No. 25 Mott street. A few weeks ago Lee left Wing in charge of his store while he took a trip. During Lee’s absence Wing departed from the store taking 1500, which he spent while on a spree. He returned to Mott street yes terday caught sfght of Lee, who pursued him. There was a race to West street. Wing took, a street oar and Lee took the ner‘ iir caught the ferryboat Cin e: ie was about to draw out of hi ork slip. Lee took the next boat. .. .iig stayed on the Cinncinnati, believing that Lee woudl take the next boat on the New York side and knowing that the Cincinnati would be on its re turn trip before Loe could reach the Jer sey side, he intended to thus give him the slip. Digests Nearly everyone will admit that as a nation we eat too much meat and too lit tle of vegetables and the grains. For business men, office men and clerks and in fact everyone engaged in seden tary er indoor occupations, grains, milk and vegetables are mueh more health ful; * '■ ~ Only men engaged in a severe outdoor ^ manual labor can live on a heavy meat diet and continue in health. As a general rule, meat , once a day is sufficient for all classes of men, wom en and children, and grains, fruit and vegetables should constitute the bulk of food eaten. But many of the most nutritious foods are difficult of digestion and it is of no use to advise brain workers to eat large ly of grains and vegetables where the digestion is too weak to assimilate them properly. It is always best to get the best results from our food that some simple and harmless digestive snould be taken after meals to assist the relaxed digestive or gans, and several years experience have proven Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets to be a verv safe, pleasant and effective diges tive and a remedy which may be taken daily with the best results. Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets can hardly be .called a patent medicine, as they do not act on the bowels nor any particular organ but only on tue food eaten. They supply what weak stomachs lack, pepsin diastase and by stimulating the gastric glands increase the natural secretion of hydroehloris .acid. People who make a daily practice of taking one or two oi: Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets after each meal are sure to have perfect digestion, wnich means perfect health. / There is no danger of forming an in jurious habit, as the tablets' contain ab solutely nothing but natural digestives; cocaine, morphine and similar drugs have no place in a stomach medicine and Stu art’s Dyspepsia Tablets are eertaiply the best Known and most popular of all stomach remedies. — Ask your druggist for a fifty-cent. package of Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets and after a week’s use note the improve ment in health, appetite and nervous energy. -4 ; . PATHETIC 8CENE IN COURT Prisoner Was a Special Mes senger in the Hackensack « P. O.—Prison Awaits Him. % - There was a pathetic Scene in United States Commissioner Lindsley S. RoweV office in the Davidson Building this mdm ing when sixteen-year-old Joseph H. Kruse, of Hackensack, was arraigned be fore tiie Commissioner on a charge of robbing the United States mails. The boy broke down and confessed to all the accusations against him. He cried heart ily and between convulsive sobs begged’ his father to forgive him. Tears rained down the father's cheeks. A woman, friend of the Kruse, family stood* by, ready to go bail for the boy when bail was fixed at 31,000 totawait the action of the Federal Grand Jury, but as the property was in her husband’s name it had to be refused. Young Kruse was employed aS a spec ial deliver/ messenger in the Hackensack Post Office. ( Numerous complaints reached the office to the effect that let ters containing money, checks and pack ages containing jewelry did not reach the people to whom they were addressed. U. S. Postal Inspectors Cortelyou and Holt by went to work on the case. jJy means or a decoy letter containing a fifty-cent. piece they traced the robberies to the youthful special delivery agent. This let ter was left on a table with Kruse alone in the room. The marked coin was found in his possession. The letter and envel ope had been destroyed. After his arrest by the Chief of Police of Hackensack he confessed to the Inspectors to having stol en a gold watch, several scarf pins, rings and one eh»ck for $300. One letter he opened contained four checks on the Hackensack National Bank each of a large denomination. These frightened him, and on the night of the day in which he opened the letter he wrapped the checks in a piece of paper and shoved them through an iron screen at the entrance to the bank, where they were found next morning by the watch man. Young Kruse skid he stole the money and jewelry from the letters in order to make himself solid with his sweetheart, whose name he refused to divulge. He was brought to this city Monday evening late, and after arraignment, was held for examination today. Meanwhile he was confined in the County Jail. Af ter this morning’s arraignment he was taken to jail again by United States Dep uty Marshall Sanford E. Smith. As younfcKruse has passed his six teenth birthc SWe cannot be sent to tho reform school, and the Federal Postal statute provides for no liberation by the payment of a fine. A term in StSte’s prison stares the boy in the face. Judge Kirkpatrick may and him guilty a'id sus pend sentence, but it is not believed he will do so, as the accusations against him are serious. . A _ CHARGED WITH SLAUGHTER. Detective Pearson last night arrested Charles A. Jones, colored, tli|rty-one years old, of No. 370 Sumner avenue, on if warrant issued by Justice of the Peace Maes, charging him with man slaughter. “The Nows” yesterday told of the death of John Masterson, sixty three years old. of No. 33 Van Winkle street.
