Resolved, That the contract for the construction of a sewer in Emerson ave nue, from a point 245 feet south of Sip avenue to and coswieeting with sewer in Sip avenue, conformably to the provis ions of Chapter 217, of the JL/aws of 1885, be awarded to Henry Byrne at the prices named in his bid namely, 92 vi per cent, of the standard, hn being the lowest bid der for the whole work, unless at or be fore the time to be fixed to hear parties in relation thereto a remonstrance against the said improvement shall 'be presented to the Board of Street and Water Commissioners signed by the own ers of property liable to more than one half the assestnent therefor, or if in the opinion of said Board a sufficient reason has net been presented for stopping said improvement. Resolved, That the Commissioners of Assessments, with the aid and assistance of the Bureau of Survey, be and are hereby directed to make and file in the office of the Clerk of this Board a pre liminary sketch based upon this award of contract and showing the amount of materials estimated as necessary to com plete said improvement, the probable to tal cost of said improvement and the probable amount to be assessed on prop erty specially benefited thereby, and that when said map shall have been so pre pared and filed, the Clerk of this Board is hereby directed to give such public no tice of hearing to be thereafter given thereon as is required by the provisions of the act heretofore cited. Resolved, That the contract for the improvement of Corbin avenue, from Sip avenue to Stuyvestant avenue, conform ably to the provisions of Chapter 217 of the Laws of 1895, be awarded to Henry Byrne, at the prices napaed In his bid, namely 92 per cent of the standard, he being the lowest bidder for the whole work, unless at or before the time to be fixed to hear parties in relation thereto a remonstrance against the said improve ment shall be presented to the Board of Street and Water Commissioners, signed by the owners of property liable to more than one-half the assessment therefor, or if in the opinion of said Board a sufficient reason has not been presented for stopping said improvement. Resolved, That the Commissioners of Assessments with tile aid and assistance of the Bureau of Survey be and are hereby directed to make and file in the office of the Clerk of this Board a pre liminary sketch based upon this award of contract and showing the amount of materials estimated as necessary to c5m paefe said improvement, the probable total cost of said improvement, and the probable amount to be assessed on prop erty specially benefited thereby and that when said map shall have been so pre prepared and filed the Clerk of this Board is hereby directed to give such public notice of hearing to be thereafter given thereon as is required by the pro vision of the act heretofore cited. Whereas, In the proposed construction of sewer in Van Winkle avenue, from Terinele avenue, westward, etc., on peti tion of Jacob Diehl and others, pro posals were received and a provisional contract awarded therefor to Charles O’Nfill, on tie 30th day of October, 1905, since which • period unforstei. obstacles have injected thorn selves to re tard ordinary prompt procedure, where by the said Charles O’NeiJl, owing to varying of prices of material and labor since the making of such provisional award, has been impelled to tender no tice that he must refuse to perform such contract; Resolved, That the provisional award of contract heretofore made as afore said to Clias. O’Neill he and is hereby reconsidered and rescinded; that the specifications for the building of said sewer be referred back to the Chief Engineer for review and revision if nceesary and that when such specifica tions shall have been re-submitted, adopted and ordered filed, the Clerk of this Board oo directed to advertise for proposals thereunder: and further Resolved. That when new proposals shall have been received and a provision al award of contract made, the Commis sioners of Assessment be requested to prepare and file as /speedily as possible tire customary preliminary map. Lyle and others, for the improvement of Suydarn avenue, between CommmfSpaw avenue and the Newark and New York Railroad: and Whereas, On the basis of said peti tion proposals were solicited and received for the doing of the work and a pre liminary map was filed showing the ap proximate cost to each' lot and parcel of land therefor; and Whereas,' Objections to the making of said improvomeht were filed by such owners of property, and this Board has adjudicated t:hef same and has deter mined that they ate ample and suffi cient; Resolved. That aH proposals hereto fore received for the doing of said work be rejected and that no further action be taken upon the basis of such peti tion. Reso'ved. That permission be and is hereby granted to John M. Hughes’ Sons Co. to remove building now situate. Block 700V. lot 72, No. 2<’> Waverly street to B ock 703, Lot 32, No. 29 ^ , 1 Jefferson avenue, the route tt> be takeu in the removal of the same to be along Waverly street to Baldwin avenue, thence along Baldwin avenue to Jeffer son avenue, and along which said route the process of removal must he proceed ed with diligently and wholly completed within fifteen (15) days, else this per mission will cease to be of effect, and the building will be treated as an illegal obstruction on street and provided further that the affected trolley and electric companies shall have filed with the Clerk of this Board a statement that their rights have been conserved, aud when a further report has been made to that'officer that no dhade trees will be destroyed or injured provided there shall be first filed with the Permit Clerk a certificate of the City Collector that all taifes and assessments on property upon which said building is situate have been paid and a like certificate from the Water Registrar that all water rente and charges thereon have been, paid, and pro vided further that a bond in the sum of five hundred ($500) dollars be first filed with the Permit Clerk to indemnify the city arid public against all damages that may be causad by said removal, aud further provided that any and all local laws pertaining to the removal orjiuild ings shall be compiled with. The Mayor and Aldermen of Jersey j City, bv the Board of Street and Water Commissioners, acting for and on behalf i of the municipality of said city, do or- J dam as follows:— Section X. That Jesses Sketchily be and is hereby granted permission to con struct and maintain Bay' windows on building to be erected by him at the southwest corner of Booream avenue and Nesbitt street, which bay windows may reach from the foundation ‘to the roof of said building, and may extend beyond the building line of Nesbitt street not more than eighteen inches (IS in.) any ordi nance to the contrary notwithstanding. The work to be done under the super vision of the Inspector of Buildings. Section 2. The ordinance granting this privilege to be of full force and effect for a period of twenty (20) years, and there after until such time as this Board or its legally authorized successors may order the same removed. Section 3. That all costs and expenses incident to the introduction, passage and ‘ publication of this ordinance shall be paid by the applicant for same; and such amount therefor as is estimated by the Clerk of this Board to be necessary shall be deposited with that officer on demand.
