Tho Republicans of the City of Mar ietta are hereby notified that a conven tion of tho qualified doctors of tho Republican party tvIII bo held at Hagan & Sohad's Hall, on Third street. In said city, on TUESDAY. FEBRUARY 19TH, 1901, At seven (7) o:lock, P. M for tho purpose of placing In nomination can didates for the follownjr offices: One City Marshal. Ono City Commissioner. One Water Works Trustee. One Cemetery Trustee. Said convention shall be composed of dolegates to be chosen at primary elec tions held in each ward of saldi city on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY, 1GTH. 1901. Between tho hours of five o'clock P. M., and seven o'clock. P. M. The ap portionment of said delegates shall bo ono delegate for each twenty-five vote' or fraction of thirteen votes cast at the next preceding election for the Re publican, candidate for Mayor. He chote the singers, those who should act as pallbearers, tne preacher to conduct the services and even the text for tho funeral sermon. His lastiwords were In explanation of a verse of Scripture about which his daughter, Mrs. Susan Hotchkiss. of Cheshire, Conn., had questioned him a few days ago. Early In the morning on the day he died Mrs. Hotchkiss .was awakened 'by her father's voice. She ran to his room and heird him re peating the verse. When he saw her he began a discourse on the text, but tho words died away as he 'became unconscious. In a slrort time his senses returned, and he continued his sermon, only to be interrupted again by the failing of his faculties, and this alternation continued until his death. The Rev. 'Mr. Fohl was born In 1815, and was the oldest minister of the Un ited Brethren faith in Pennsylvania. He was a ma of great strength of char acter and highly esteemed by. those who knew him be3t.
