Thursday, April 11, 1946 Indianapolis Girl Wedded To Clement Davis During an impressive candle-light ceremony in the Broad Ripple Metho dist church, Indianapolis, Ind., Miss Ruby Adkins of that city and Cle ment Davis of Caldwell were united in marriage at 7:30 o’clock on the evening of March 30. Rev. W. E. Gillette officiated for the exchange of nuptial vows. The bride selected a street length dress of mist with accessories of black. She carried an arm bouquet of gardenias and ivy. Mrs. Arthur Erickson of Indianapolis and Richard Hayes of Caldwell were the only at tendants. Mrs. Erickson chose a fuchia dress with accessories of black. She wore a shoulder corsage of camellias. Mrs. Wilbert Hall of Indianapolis presided at the console of the organ for a half hour recital immediately preceding the wedding. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Adkins of New Salisbury, Ind. Those attending the wedding from Caldwell were Mrs. Columbia Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hayes. The bridegroom is a son of Ray Davis and Mrs. Columbuia Davis, both of Caldwell, graduate of the local high school and prior to enter ing the service, was deputy auditor for the county. He saw service in both the ETO and South Pacific. Immediately following the wed ding, a reception was held for 50 guests at the home of Celia Aldred, after which the couple left for a ten day trip. They are spending this week in Caldwell. Birthday Dinner Mrs. Emery Carrel entertained at her home in Crooked Tree commun ity, with a dinner Sunday, honoring the ninety-first anniversary of her father, George L. Pierce. Mr. Pierce was a son of the late Allan and Eliz abeth Wickens Pierce, one of the old er prominent pioneer families to set tle in Noble county. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pierce of Caldwell, Mrs. Alta Harlow and family of Marietta, Mrs. Jessie McGarry and family of Big Run, Mrs. Loren Carrel and family, Mrs. Clyde Phillis of Beverly, and Mrs. Emey Carrel. Casto officiated at the marriage of Miss Dorothy Eileen Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bennett of Cambridge, to William Wells, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Wells of Cald well. Vows were exchanged Satur day at 4 p. m. at the Free Metho dist parsonage on East street. Attendants were Miss Doris Wells, sister of the bridegroom, and Will iam Bennett, BKR 3c, a brother of the bride. For her wedding the bride wore a powder blue two piece suit with black and white accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Miss Wells was dresed in a two tone suit and her corsage was pink carnations and sweet peas. The new Mr. and Mrs. Wells will make their home in Lowell. Miscellaneous Shower On Thursday evening, April 4, a miscellaneous shower was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight John son of Hiramsburg, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. William Kyle Conner. The evening was spent in social conversa tion, and refreshments were served. The couple received many lovely gifts. LeGRAEN—-Manager West Street—Caldwell, Ohio _____ _—OWNERS----------------- Simon Ruby Edward Ruby Walter Myers Bryson-Edwardfe At Soul’s Harbor in Columbus Ohio, before a setting of green palms, and the soft lights of the two seven-branch candelabra, was the scene of the marriage on Mon day evening March 25, of Miss Doris Bryson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Harold Bryson, 47 Powhatan Ave., to Mr. Elbert Lee Edwards, son of Mrs. A. M. Edwards also of Colum bus. Rev. Lee Baum, Minister of Music officiated at the 7 p. m. ceremony. The bride was attired in a white slipper gown with a sweetheart neck line, full-length fitted sleeves taper ing to a point over the hands and a full skirt of satin and lace which ex tended in a wide cathedral train. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a seed pearl tiara, and she carried a cascade bouquet of white carna tions. Miss Shirley Baum, her only at tendant wore a baby blue net gown. She carried a bouquet of pink carna tions and wore a head band of blue flowers to match the gown. Little Miss Erma Lee Baum, the flower girl carried a miniature bas ket of pink and white sweet peas, and wore a floor-length gown of pink net. Her jewelry was a gold locket and bracelet to match, a gift from the bride. The vocalist was Miss Mina Rick ly. She wore a gown of white net and her corsage was pink and white sweet peas. She sang “Oh Promise Me”, I Love You Truly”, and “Be cause”. Miss Lois Kruge, organist was dressed in a gown of pink satin with a corsage of pink and white sweet peas. She played “Kiss Me Again”, “I Promise”, and the “Indian Love Call”. For the procession she played “Lohengrin Wedding March”, and the recessional, “Mendelssohn’s Wed ding March”. Carl Edwards brother of the bridegroom acted as the best man. The ushers were Mr. Russell Clark and Mr. Stanley Whitlock. Gifts from the bride to her attendants were gold compacts. Gifts from the bridegroom to the ushers and best man were leather billfolds. Following1 the ceremony, the bride s parents were hosts at a w’edding re ception at their home. A large 3 tier wedding cake with a miniature bride and groom as decorations cen tered the table. Tall candles were lighted behind the cake as the first piece was cut by the bride and groom. They used a silver cake knife tied with a white satin ribbon. On a peach color table cover, orchid and yellow spring flowers were tied in small corsages and circled the cake. Mrs. Sara Harris, Miss Ethel Leach, Miss Joyce Heskctt and Miss Gretchen Fife served as hostesses. Mrs. Harold Bryson wearing a gown of Aice blue crepe with white ac cessories, and Mrs. Edwards in gray with blue accessories were in the receiving line. Both mothers wore nk and white carnation corsages. Afer the reception, the bride changed to a regal blue suit with black ac cessories. Her corsage was white carnations taken from her bridal bouquet. Her only jewelry was a gold pin set with turquoise, a gift from the bridegroom. After their wedding trip they will reside with the brides parents at 47 Powhatan Avenue un til they leave for Cleveland, Ten nesee sometime in June, where Mr. Edwards will enter Bob Jones college to finish his study for the ministry. Mrs. Edwards will study music and art. The former Miss Bryson grad uated from West high school. After taking two post-graduate courses in business, she entered Ohio State Uni versity and was in the College of Fine Arts for two and a half years. She was amtmber of Kappa Phi. Mr. Edwards graduated from Central high school, and then entered the Army Air Corps and served his country for three years as an air plane radio technician. He was a Prisoner of War of Japan for eight months. Previous to Mrs. Edwards mar riage a dinner was given at the Seneca hotel, and many showers and parties in her honor. The out of town guests at the wed ding were Mrs. Fred Anderson and daughter, Dorothy, of Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Bell of Cambride, and Mr. Jack Dunn of Cincinnati. THE JOURNAL, CALDWELL. OHIO Entertained Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott of Caldwell, route 6, entertained at their home Sunday, April 7, in honor of their son, Robert, who has just been discharged from the army. He spent two years in the Pacific theatre of war. The table was centered with a birthday cake for “Bob” who was 21 years old on April 9. All children were together for the first time in two years. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schafer and chil dren, David, Sheila, and Kenneth of Olive, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schott and son, Richard, Canton, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Archer and children, Judith, James, and Janice of Caldwell route 6: Mr. and Mrs. Leland Schott and daughter, Sandra, of Akron, Mildred Betty, and Marilyn Schott, the hon or guest, and the host and hostess. Surprise Party A surprise party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Miley for their daughter, Mildred, on her sixteenth birthday, on April 4. Games were played and songs were sang. She received several nice gifts. Women’s Bib’e Class Members of the Woman’s Bible Class held the April meeting in the basement of the First Methodist church with twenty members present. Mrs. Adda Vaughn. Mrs. Maude Shafer, Mrs. Laura Fowler, and Mrs. Alta Davis, were the hostesses. Mrs. Vaughn had charge of the devotional period using as her theme, “Fear”. A ladies quartet sang “Lead Me To Calvary”, and H. L. Tarleton and Mrs. H. A. Guiler led in prayer. During the business ses sion it was voted that the class give $5.00 out of the treasury to the Red Cross drive, and $25.00 to assist in buying new' hymnals for the church. Mrs. C. E. Kirchner and Miss Nedra Kingsley were guests. During the social hour Mrs. Laura Fowler presented a Bible quiz, and a delightful refreshment course was served. Mrs. E. G. Tarleton Hostess Mrs. E. G. Tarleton was hostess to members of Circle No. 3, of the W. S C. S. of the First Methodist church at her home Tuesday. Co hostesses with Mrs. Tarleton were Mrs. H. A. Guiler, Mrs. Ellen Mar tin, Mrs. Clara Clark, Mrs. ba Mar ing, Mrs. Harry Sm th, Mrs. W. S. Camden, Mrs. John West, Mrs. Cora Parley, Mrs. Alva Newton and Mrs. E. M. Farley. Mrs Orville Stille, president pre sided and Mrs. Ellen Martin had charge of the devotionals. Mrs. Lois Ziler was program leader and gave the chapter in the study book on Af rica. Others who participated in the program were: Miss Lois Robeits, Mrs C. E. Keyser, and Mrs. H. A. Guiler, Mrs. C. E. Kirchner, Mrs. Edna McCune, and Mrs. Bertha Ull man. Refreshments were served. East Union W. S. C. S. The East Union W. S. C. S. held their monthly meeting Friday, April 5, at the home of Lydia Gant. The program was in charge of the presi dent, Mary Green. After the pro gram a pot-luck supper was served to the following W. T. Hague, Rev. and Mrs. Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Craig and sons, Gary and Eddie Mi. and Mrs. Shelby Green and son, John Angie Johns, Sarah Gant, and the hostess. Basketball Banquet A basket banquet will be held Thursday April 11, at 6:00 p. m. in honor of the basketball team. It will be sponsored by the Methodist church of Belle Valley. Deaths CARL KREMPASKY Carl Krempasky, well known young man of Belle Valley, died in Good Samaritan hopital, Zanesville, at 4 a. m. Friday, where he had been a patient for about two years. He suf fered a broken back while working in the Belle Valley mine. He wag a son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Krem pasky. He was married to Helen Wells and their marriage was the first wedding in the Corpus Christi Catholic church, Belle Valley, which was dedicated about four years ago. Surviving are his wife and son, one brother, Moxie Krempasky. one sister, Mrs. Susie Pakes of Calif. Funeral services were held Mon day at 9:30 a. m. from Corpus Christi Catholic church with Rev. Fr. Steven M. Pekalla officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. MARY A. KUHN Mary A. Kuhn, 65, wife of John N. Kuhn, of near Lewisville, died Monday morning at her home fol lowing a stroke she suffered last week. Mrs. Kuhn was the daughter Real Selection of George M. and Mary Burkhart. Surviving are four sons, Cornelius, Lester and James, of Louisville, Stark county, and Arthur of Lewis ville a daughter, Mrs. Anita Crum, of Berne four brothers, Phillip, Alec and Ben Burkhart, of Lewis ville and Sylvester Burkhart, of Iroa ton two sisters, Mrs. Thereaa Kuhn, of near Lewisville and Mrs. Bertha Schumacher, of Woodsfield. A daugh ter, Gertrude, died in 1927. Funeral services were held Wed nesday morning at 9 o’clock from St Joseph Catholic church at Burkhart, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Finan officia ting.
