Page Six Rev. Walter Brown Submits FirSt In Series of 5 The Noble County Ministerial as sociation is giving their support to the “Go To Church” page, sponsored by various business men. Rev. Walter Brown is submitting the first sermonette and there will be others each week from the vari ous pastors. It is as follows: “OUR CHALLENGE FORWARD WITH CHRIST”. Ex. 14:15 “That They Go Forward” Long ago someone said, “It mat ters not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.” Recently I have been thinking of the much that is being spoken and writ ten about all of us getting back to God. I realize in some sense we are in need of this for we certainly are too far away, but not ahead of Christ. I believe this exhortation to be timely, to challenge us, let us go forward with Christ. There is a similarity between the first Palm Sunday and this coming one. There was unrest, war clouds were float ing on the horizon then. Today, this post-war world is sick unto death, the war clouds just passed over, not out of sight, rest less, insecure, and uncertain, needs something to (tie) to. Even H. G. Wells, among others, emphasizes “The world is at the end of its tether.” That first Palm Sunday, Jesus faced Jerusalem, the cross and death, while the crowds lined his pathway w.th palm leaves and theii own clothes and cried out, “Hosanna to the King.” The Pharisees found no enjoyment in the process.on or jubilation. They would quiet His followers and sain, “Master rebuke Thy disciples.” He said, “If these keep silent the very stones will speak.” It seems absurd for stones to speak, but a‘k Hiroshima or Na gaski. Not much larger than ap ples, yet their core of N-235 ex tracted from pitch blend, a form of rock and stone, spoke in no uncer tain voice. The stone towers of Siloam spoke to the disciples as Jesus explained that these 18 were no different from others, and "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Yes, the stones are speaking today. It is a message of repentance, of confes sion, of belief, of acceptance of Christ, of following after Him. Long ago God’s message to Israel was, “Go forward.” Again, Christ is coming down the avenue of time toward the New Jerusalem. Shall we follow Him in our day, or face destruction? He wept over the fate Of Jerusalem. She knew not the time of her visitation, her opportun ity. The stones are crying out. It is Christ or else. You know the answer. Our challenge is forward with Jesus. Let the true Israel of today hear God and obey the command, “GO FORWARD.” Come to CHURCH Summerfield Methodist Charge W. E. Peters, Minister. Early in life He became a great leader. So profound were His teachings and so pure His life that He soon drew unto Himself a vast following, and men called Him Master. For His disciples there was no promise of worldly reward yet men forsook all and followed Him. His enemies were cruel men, and powerful. They crucified Himl But Death could not crush His power. Christ arosel And the truth He had taught became the faith of thousands—then of millions in every comer of the earth. Christ's Church has lived through wars and persecutions, it has suffered every known human torture and violence, and yet it has always survived and grown stronger. Its strength is the timeless, eternal strength of its Founder. To understand today the great truths underlying our civilization, we and our children should know the world's greatest personality—Jesus Christ. We should gain the world's greatest spiritual treasure—Christianity. iJESUS CHRIST The best place to gain these essentials of wholesome living is in the Church. Enroll your children in Sunday School.
