Thursday, October 31, 1946 SOCIETY NE WS & E VENTS ’MISS IRENE ARCHER BRIDE OF ALBERT HUPP The St. Mary’s Catholic church, Fulda, was the scene of the wedding of Miss Irene Archer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Archer, and Albert Hupp, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hupp. Fr. B. J. Mattes officiated at the ceremony at 9:00 o’clock, Thursday, October 24. The bride was dressed in a gown of net over embroidered satin, fash ioned with a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves that came to a point over the hands, train, and a finger tip veil held in place with coronet of pearls. Her bouquet was of red roses and white pom-poms, tied with white streamers. Miss Lueila Hupp, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. She wore a gown of pink net over satin, fashioned with a sweetheart neck line and short sleeves. Her bouquet was of pink roses. Paul Archer, brother of the bride, served as best man. Mr. Hupp was graduated from the Cald well high school. A dance was given in their honor at the hall in the evening. Immed iately following the dance, they left for a short wedding trip. Upon their return they will reside on a farm east of Caldwell. COUPLE HONORED WITH MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER On Thursday evening, Oct. 17, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Stellfox enter tained in honor of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Tucker, with a miscellaneous show 'er. Refreshments were served to the following: Betty Archer, Jean Moore, Lois Dudley, Carol Dudley, Irene Marquis, Dorothy Anderson, Mrs. W. C. Wehr, Mrs. Charles Doan, Mrs. S. J. Sayre, of North street, were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harris, of Massillon, and her mother, Mrs. Iva Noble, of Caldwell. Mrs. Noble accompanied her daughter to Massillon for a few days visit. I.YLAN FIGLEY BECOMES RiHDE OF GERALD STRINGER Miss Llyan Figley, daughter of Mrs. Bessie Figley, of Dover, and the late Carlos H. Figley, became the bride of Gerald Dean Stringer, sen of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Stringer, of Caldwell route, on Thursday, Oc tober 24, on the wedding anniver sary of the bridegroom’s parents. 1 he double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Boyd J. Yorke, of Car rollton, who performed the cere-1 niony of the bride’s parents. The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Morris, of Caldwell. The bride was attired in a gray wool suit with black accessories. Her only jewelry was a diamond lavalier worn by her mother on her wedding day. She wore a corsage of red rose buds. Mrs. Morris wore a blue frock with black accessories and a cor sage of pink carnations. Mrs. Stringer was graduated from Dover high school and is a former employee of the U. S. Quarry Tile. Mr. Stringer, who is a veteran of twenty-eight months service in the Navy, is an alumnus of Caldwell high school. immediately following the wed ding, they left for a week’s trip to New’ York and Canada. After their i eturn they will reside for the pre sent with the bridegrooms parents on the Marietta road. HELEN JOHNS BRIDE OF GERALD D. ANDERSON Miss Helen Johns, of Canton, and Chief Pharmist Mate Gerald D. An derson were quietly married with a double ring ceremony on Sept. 7, by Rev. Freeman Brunsour, pastor of the Nazarenc church, Canton. Mrs. Anderson wore a beige suit with a yellow rose corsage. Her only attendants were her two brothers, Harold and Virgil Johns. Mrs. Anderson is the daughter of Okey and Ella Johns, formerly of Sarahsville. Mrs. Anderson had taught in the Sarahsville schools and recently graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in educational science. Mr. Anderson is the son of Frede rick Anderson, of Wisconsin, and attended college there before enter ing the Navy. The couple left immediately for the west coast where he will re sume his duties w’ith the Navy. THELMA GERST BRIDE OF ROBERT SCHEHL Leo Gerst, of Caldwell route 1, is announcing the marriage of his daughter, Thelma, to Robert Schehl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schehl, of Caldwell route 1. The wedding was an event of Saturday, October 5, at 9 o’clock in the St. Mary’s Catholic church. Fulda, with Rev. B. J. Mat tes officiating at the single ring ceremony. The bride wore a gown fashioned with a white satin waist and net skirt, long sleeves that came to a point over the hand and a finger-tip veil. Her bouquet was of w’hite as ters and gladioli and was tied with white streamers. She wore a single strand of pearls. Miss Delores Schell, neice of the bridegroom, served as bridesmaid and wore a gow’n of pink net. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. Herman Gerst, brother of the bride, was best man. The bride attended Fulda high school, and Mr. Schehl graduated from Harriettsville high school. He served three years in the Army and is now engaged in farming. The couple plan to reside with his par ents. Following the wedding a dinner was served at the home of his par ents, followed by a wedding dance in the evening. COUPLE HONORED WITH WEDDING DINNER A wedding dinner was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Gal ?vda, Jr., of Cleveland, who were married on Saturday, October 26. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. George Spsak and children, Julia Ann and George, Andy Nemets, Mr. and Mrs. Aqdy Galayda, Steve Gal ayda, and Miss Mildred Galayda, of Painesville, Mr. and Mrs. John Gal ayda, of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Galayda, of Cleveland, and Mr. and Mrs. George Galayda, Sr., of Coal Ridge. GLADYS SMITH MARRIES IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA Friends in Caldw’ell are receiving announcement of the marriage of Gladys Johnson Smith, formerly of this community, to Hal Pracht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pracht, of Santa Cruz, California. They were married August 22 at the Little Church of the West at the Last Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, Ne vada. For the past several years, the new Mrs. Pracht has been making her home in Palm Springs, Calif. She is the daughter of Mrs. William Johnson, now of Akron. Smith, to Arthur D. Tidd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison V. Tidd, of Dexter City. The mar riage took place at 9:00 a. m. on Oc tober 19, at Munfordville, Ken tucky with Rev. Reynolds officiat ing at the single ring ceremony. ■The bride wore a blue two piece suit with black accessories and a corsage of white roses. Attending the couple were Miss Gay Osborne and James Moore. Miss Osborne wore a light blue suit with black accessories and a cor sage of pink roses. For traveling, the bride wore a green two piece suit with black ac cessories. She is a graduate of and high school, class of 1946. Mr. Tidd was graduated from Dex ter City high school. He served four years in the Army of which 34 months were spent overseas. He is now employed as a lineman for the Wagner and Smith Construction Co. The couple are living in a house trailer neai' Gallipolis where Mr. Tidd is employed. LIPTAK-PHILLIPS MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Announcement is being made of the marriage of Miss Lillian Phil lips, daughter of Mrs. Beverly Phil lips, of Cleveland, to Lewis Liptak, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Liptak. of Coal Ridge. The marriage was an event of Saturday, October 19, at Cleveland. The following week, the couple enjoyed a wedding trip to Niagara Falls. A wedding dinner was given in their honor at the home of the bridegroom’s parents on Saturday, October 26.
