Good Cheer Circle Meets At Kennonsburg Kennonsburg, Dec. 18 Fourteen members of the Good Cheer Circle and two guests were entertained at the home of Wilbur Lashley with Miss Mildred Stoneburner and Mrs. Vada Ward as hostesses. The pres ident, Mrs. Myrtle Feldner. presided at the meeting which opened with the group singing “Silent Night, Holy Night”, followed by the Lord’s Prayer in unison. During the busi ness session new officers were ap pointed for the coming year. Miss Mildred Stoneburner, was elected president, Mrs. Grace Wyscarver, vice president Mrs. Estelene Dan ford, secretary Mrs. Audrey Long was re-elected treasurer. Mrs. Ber nice Weaver gave a Christmas read ing and Mrs. Emma Massie the Christmas Story. The program for the January meeting will be in charge of Group No. 1 as follows: Scripture read ing, Mrs. Grace Wyscarver read ing, Mrs. Bernice Weaver song, Mrs. Mary Ward jokes, Miss Mildred Stoneburner reading, Mrs. Angie Bates, Mrs. Vada Ward, Mrs. Ella Parks contests, Mrs. Audrey Long, The meeting closed by the group singing, “It Came Upon A Clear.” Then a Christmas of gifts was enjoyed by dren and grownups. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Les Rose and daughter spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Danford. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Magis and two sons spent Thursday evening with Harmon Moore. Lee Shipman of Old Washington spent Saturday evening with Ures Massie. He plays checkers with Ures. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Rich spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Grover Stallings and the latter’s mother, Mrs. Nancy Danford. Mr. and Mrs. Ace Lawrence spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ures Massie. Oliver Wells has been hauling corn from near Heberling the past week. Robert Roe is quitting his filling station and grocery. We hope this will be a lesson to future would-be dictators. Salesville Salesville, Dec. 18—Billie Barrett celebrated his 9th birhtday on Fri day the 13th. Margret Barrett returned Monday to Cambridge where she is employed after spending a months vacation at her hame here. W. S. C. S. Meeting Mrs. Hosea Stoneburner was host ess to the W. S. C. S. at her home Thursday evening. Ten members were present and Mrs. Lena Mir acle was a guest. The regular busi ness meeting was in charge of the president, Mrs. Mildred St. Clair, The same officers were re-elected to their respective offices for the coming year. Plans were made for remembering the sick and shut-ins of the community at Christmas time. A social hour was enjoyed with a gift exchange, contest and a covered dish supper. Ross Is Discharged From Army Sgt. Richard L. Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, this village, has received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army, returning from extensive service overseas in Casablanca, Africa. He w’as a C. H. S. graduate of 1945. Holiday Vacation Miss Ruth Smith, student at Ash bury College, Kentucky, will spend the holiday vacation with home folks, Rev. Francis Smith and fam ily.
