OPAL BRUM BACH One of the delightful social events of the season was the dinner and reception, Wednesday evening, pre sented by members of Amazon Chapter, No. 30, O. E. S., for Mrs. Opal Brumbach, who is serving as Grand Marshall this year in the Grand Lodge. C. Harper with Mrs. Dewey Sanford as co-hostess, for their annual Xmas party and gift exchange .Mrs. Anna Tilton, president, had charge of the devotionals using for her theme, The Christmas Story. DEXTER CITY LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS Twenty-two members of the Dex ter City American Legion Auxil iary, No. 418, enjoyed their annual Christmas party Friday evening, Dec. 13. During the social hour, re freshments were served and a gift exchange enjoyed, Mrs. Guy Lewis of Macksburg serving as Santa. Bev erly Jean Robinson and Vivian Louise Longfellow sang a vocal duet with Mrs. Grace Hutcheson at the piano. The meeting was concluded with the singing of Christmas carols. DINNER AT MERRITT HOME Mr. and Mrs. Alva Merritt en tertained with a turkey and duck dinner Thanksgiving day at their home in Caldwell. Wednes day, 10:30 a. m. for Richard D. Bond, age 21, whose untimely pass ing has deeply saddened the entire community. Officiating minister, Rev. R. D. Wingert, voiced a mem orable eulogy and tribute to the life of this admirable lad, and mili tary ceremonies were conducted by twelve local ex-servicemen and “buddies” of the deceased in World War II. Pallbearer were also local young men. Supt. Evcrit C. Rogers and Frank Shuster represented the American Legion of World War 1 while Wil liam Jansen acted as commanding officer. Flag bearer was Reuben Walters, honor guards were: Everett Smith. Harold Ghrist, John Collins. Merl Moore, David Squire, James Keyes, Charles Bailey, Hubert Tayler, and John Hamilton. Pallbearers were: Robert Allison, Howard Hamilton, Sam Bay, Ken neth Gee, Ralph Bay, and Edward Wood.
