Mary Weaver wds the in stalling officer and Mary Bircher, the installing marshall. Mrs. Gladys Philpot is the new Worthy Matron, succeeding Flor ence Wharton in this capacity. Following the installation, the chapter members were entertained at the West restaurant. Grange Program The Grange Christmas program will be presented Saturday eve ning, Dec. 21. A playlet is being planned as the highlight of the pro gram, as well as a gift exchange. Members are requested to bring sandwiches. Dinner Guests Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hanes enter tained with a duck dinner recently in honor of Pvt. Gene Hanes, who left Saturday for Camp Stoneman, Calif., where he will await orders for duty overseas. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Zedar Hanes, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hanes, children .Bill, Mar garet, David, Richard and the hon ored guests. Young Hanes took his basic training at Fort Dix, N. J. Chicken Dinner Mrs. Ida Hartshorn entertained Mr. and Mrs. John Holschuh, Staf ford, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bode, Mr., and Mrs. Ernest Bode, Sunday eve ning, with a course chicken dinner. Whigville Whigville, Dec. 18—Mr. and Mrs. Pearley Snyder, Kermit Sutherland, of Newark, Mrs. Grover Fryeman, Mrs. Harry Barr, Lester Martin, of Ashland spent Sunday with Mrs. J. M. Martin. Mrs. Martin, who has been seriously ill, is improved at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Danford of Lewisville route spent Sunday after noon with his aunt, Mrs. Nettie Martin. Mrs. George Wickham of Mt. Mrs. Bill Oliver and Mrs. Ernest Weekly were Christmas shoppers in Caldwell Saturday. Callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Poling this week were Jim Warner and son, George, Ver non Sorg and Fannie Dye. Harry Sutherland called at the home of Otto Bunting Saturday. Several folks from Sarahsville at tended the sale of Martha Moore near Perryopolis. Ruth Poling had the misfortune of losing her black bill fold. It con tained several small pictures and the address of her brother, Ray mond Poling, who is a private class in the army, and is now tioned at New York. CLASSES ENJOY CHRISTMAS PARTY The ladies Bible class of the First Methodist Sunday school invited the Friendly class to participate in their Christmas party and potluck dinner which was held at the Church Tues day evening at 6:30 o’clock. Follow ing the dinner Mrs. Bertha Ullman opened the meeting with the follow ing program: Mrs. Mary B. Okey gave the devotionals and a reading, “The Christmas Story” Mrs. Mary J. Merry, gave a talk on her travels in the East Mrs. Emma Tipton, two musical readings Mrs. Mary B. Okey, reading, A “Strange Story” Miss Effie Warren, reading, “At Christinas” from Edgar A. Guest Mrs. Columbia Shriver, reading, “A Christmas Wish” Howard Shafer, talk. Christmas music was enjoyed throughout the program. Mrs. Ivy Guiler will be president of the class for the coming year.
