Never shirk in your duty, and hoe out your row Be truthful and honest, wherever you go Stick to your bush, to your elders be kind What ever your lot, to it be resigned. Stay out of deep debt, as much as you're able Keep the smokehouse well filled, for meat on your table, The cellar well stocked, with fruit and potatoes The canning jars jammed, from soup to tomatoes And if times get hard, and scaree is money Don't buy any sugar, use molasses or honey. You'll be self sufficient, so safe and secure And eating home made, does your living assure." These sages of wisdom, with gems of such thought Thru their lives of experience, and mostly self taught Today they would shudder and wonder aloud If this age of inflation will be our own shroud. —W GARRFTT O I N K E Y PORT BLINKEY Mrs. Rosa McAtee of Elba, was pleasantly surprised on Sunday, Sept. 25 with a birthday dinner at her home.
