Thursday, January 26, 1956 SUMMERF1ELD NEWS SUMMERFIELD Members] of the Alpha Omega Sunday School Class met Tuesday eve ning, Jan. 17 in the home of Mrs. Bu.'lah Watson. Devotionals were led by Mrs. Verna Dotson and Emily Havener with Ruth Day and Thelma Atkinson winning prizes. The president was in charge of the business session. Other members present included Pearl Reed, Mary Weaver and Elsie Bode, and one guest, Maiw Bircher. Church Notes Because of this week being Youth Weok, Rev. Lowell Kiger announced that services this Sun day will be in charge of the youth. Beginning on Sunday, Feb. 12, evangelistic services will be held each evening at 7:30 p. m. lasting until Feb. 19. On Wed nesday evening, communion ser Vices will ba observed. Supt. Alexander of Cambridge will ho present one evening during the evangelistic week. On Thursday evening of this week there will be a prayer meeting at the church. Porch Light Parade Mrs. Emily Havener, chairman of the march of dimes here an nounced that there would be a porch light parade held on Thurs day night beginning at 7:30 and lasting until 8:30. Residents of this community are asked to have their porchlights turned on at this lime if they wish to par ticipate in this campaign. March of Dimes Dance 1 The American Legion Auxili ary sponsored a dance Wednes day evening, January 25 in the Legion hall with the proceeds going to the Marclf of Dimes Fund. The Le'atherwood Gang furnished the music. Vtoeder Calf Banquet Several from here are planning to attend the annual Feeder Calf Banquet Thursday evening in the dining room of the First Metho dist church in Caldwell. With regret the Society ac cepted the resignation of Mrs. Jura Harris, who has served as president for the past twenty years. Also the resignation of Mrs. Cary Thompson, who has served as secretary for sixteen years. In behalf of the Society, Mrs. Sadie Rose presented each with a gift in appreciation of their faithful service. Past grands J. R. Davidson and Herbert Tip ton were the installing officers. Refreshments were served.
