The KedsKins were never in the game after the first few minutes when the lead see sawed back and forth several times, before M&M moved ahead to stay. Caldwell's record is now 10 wins against seven losses. Seniors George Lewis and Bob Harris teamed up with 26 and 24 points on fast breaks, tip-ins and every other conceivable type of shot. Dean Richardson, the set up man, contributed eight, but a couple of sophomore guards— McKibben and Smith—gave the Big Reds the necessary shot-in the-arm. For Caldwell, Leon Bates rang up 19 points in this rough con test. while Allen Manson and Fritz Watson added 13 and 11. Caldwell's foul average was below par again with only 17 out of 32, compared to 21 out of 31 for the winners. Watson registered nine of his 11 points in the first quarter due to some smart rebounding against & s tight zone. The Big Reds outscored Caldwell 20-14 in this quarter with Harris ringing up six points. In the second quarter, the host team out-goaled Caldwell six to four and looped in six out of eight charity tosses to extend their lead to 38-22 at halftime. Leon Bates netted six points in this period, Lewis had eight. The roof fell in during the third quarter when M&M scor ed at will with 29 points, led by Harris with 13 and Lewis with 10. Sam and Leon Bates tallied seven each for the Red skins, who managed a total of 20 for the quarter. Caldwell outscored the Big Reds 19-12 in the fourth period behind Manson's seven points, but the M&M lead was too great to overcome. The Elks have now completed their leagu-e season with a 9-1 record, but must await the outcome of Friday's game between the Red Devils and Dexter City to see whether they win or tie for the championship. Harriettsville pushed past the century mark at the end of the third quarter but wound up 20 points short of their league re cord set against Dexter last year. This was due partly to the fact that the subs saw a great deal of action in the late stages of the game. Neil Schott's 38 points led a scoring parade for the Elks which included 26 by Bill Lal lathin, 22 by Jim Schott, 20 by Frank Stevens, and 18 by Dale Fleeman. For Dexter City, high-scoring Gary Davis was injured and forced out of the game early in the opening period. Charles Ogle tallied 23 points to lead the Tiger scoring.
