Thursday, June 23,1956 Annual Homecoming Festival At Senecaviile, Financial Success SENECAVILLE The annual Festival was pronounced the financial success we have had in years. The food stand could hardly keep up with the de mands. The horse show held Fri day evening attracted a large crowd and the fine horses and horsemanship were remarkable. Then Saturday evening, in spite of a deluge of rain which lasted for hours, the parade formed and the floats, and those taking part in the parade were much appre ciated by the large crowd which had assembled at the square. Miss Patricia Barlow was crown ed queen by Supt. W. W. Wilson. Her attendants were Ramona Rose, Beverly Harding, Imelda Robish. Delores Miller and Don na Mallett. The M. Y. F. float won first prize. The Old Timers Picnic The annual Homecoming and Old Timers Picnic will be held July 1st in the grove at the grade school. A basket dinner will be held at noon. A program is being arranged for the afternoon. Come join old friends in a great time together. Class Meeting The Builders Class was enter tained by Miss Maude Miley in the social rooms of the Methodist church, Friday, June 15. Miss Mary Jane Wolfe had charge of the program and contests, with Mrs. Martha Campbell winning the prize. Mrs. Vivian Channel and daughter Nancy of Jackson, Mich., are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor House. Rev. and Mrs. E. A. Moore re cently visited in St. Albans, and also in Pa den City, W. Va. Mrs. lima Berry of Columbus recently visited her father, Bert Corwin. Mr. T. E. McVicker recently visited his son, Donald McVicker and family in Columbus. Bill Barlow has re-entered the University at Athens, after re turning from service overseas. Eddie Walton of Canton has been visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Walton. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guiler and son of Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jobe and children, Rev. and Mrs. Clinton Mooney of Gal lipolis visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. James Edwin. Weekend guests at the Ray mond Secrest home were Mr. and Mrs. James S. Lake and daugh ter, Tacy and Miss Jo Wise of Columbus and E. L. Secrest and Sf y i pi Kb family of Barberton. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Snell of Middlebourne recently visited Miss Maude and Clay Miley. Mrs. Kate Allan has returned from a visit with her son and daughter in Akron. Mrs. Joe Barren is visiting rel atives in Cleveland. Woodrow Coleman of Canton is visiting his mother, Mrs. Oran Fisk. Rev. Allen Reed, pastor of the Presbyterian church at Fletcher was calling on friends here re cently. Rev. Reed is the former pastor of the Presbyterian church here. Mrs. Pauline Lasko of Elyria and son were called here by the illness of her father, John Base, who is a patient at Guernsey Memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kish and daughter Sally visited Mr. and and Mrs. Bob Callahan in Tay lor Center. Mich., over the week end. They were accompanied home by their daughter, Erin Sue, who had been visiting there Mr. and Mrs. John Curry and children and Mrs. Harrison Sing leton visited Monday with the latters sister, Mrs. Bessie Mont gomery in Columbus. We are proud to say that our good friend and neighbor, Mrs. Nora Forshev has been released from St. Francis hospital to her home in Sarahsville and is much improved from a recent illness. George (Mike) Kirk was ad mitted to Guernsey Memorial hospital,-Friday evening with a broken leg which was the result of a fall from a bicycle which was riding, down a steep hill in Sarahsville. The June meeting of Sharon Loyal Temperance Legion was held Wednesday afternoon, June 20 at the home of Kbren Boyd with Daryl Wheeler, calling the meeting to order and read Gal atians 6:7. Opening song, "America" pledges to United States Christ ian and Temperance flags, also L.T.L. pledge and rhyme Matt 5:2-12 read responsively with president leading followed by prayer. Plans were discussed for the annual picnic July 18th. Dur ing lesson period a flag quiz was held. Bible verses were learned and stories, "The Use of U. S. Flag," "Thomas Alva Edison" and "Rover Joins the Parade." Meet ing closed with salute and pray er.
