Page Six—B Summerfield 6 Marion Township And Mothers Porchllghl Parade Coliecis $141.64 For March Of Dimes Mrs. Emily Hawner, general chairman for the March of Dimes campaign in Summerfield and Marion township, announced to day that $141.64 had been turned over to the county funds from this section. The porch light parade was held last Thursday evening and from this solicitation $94.92 was received with a balance of $56.72 being obtained from Marion town ship. This is exceedingly high for any one community in the county and speaks well for the efforts of the entire community as they united their forces to support the polio campaign. Mrs. Geraldine Hannahs served as chairman for the porchlight parade and she joined with Mrs. Havener in expressing their ap preciation to all who responded so generously. The total above was turned over to the First National Bank, Monday morning. Attend Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Oliver and son attended the wedding of their son and .brother, James Oliver, held at Detroit, Mich., on Saturday, Feb. 23. Miss Irene Kopitz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kopitz of that city exchanged vows with the Summerfield young man in a lovely Saturday morning cere mony which was solomenized at 11:30 o'clock. Following a short wedding trip, the couple will make their home in Summerfield on Church street. The bridegroom was only recent ly discharged from the U. S. Army. Prayer Service The W. S. C. Enjoy Visit Max Bates of St. Louis, Mo., visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Bates the past weekend. He is a teacher in the St. Louis schools. Additional guests were Mrs. Ralph Reed and son and June Brothertown of Akron. Church Services Rev. Lowell Kiger, pastor of the Summerfield Methodist church announced today that a series of meetings were now in progress, beginning Wednesday, March 6 with the prayer vigil program. From Thursday evening until Sunday evening of this week, services will be in charge of Rev. Floyd Workman, Barnesville. Ladies Aid Ladies of the Church of Christ met Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Francis Harding with sewing as their project. They meet each month and sew for the needy. Prayer Service The Summerfield circuit of the Free Methodist churches is hold ing a united prayer service Fri day evening at the Sarahsville Free Methodist church with Helen Smith and Thelma Windom in charge of the program. Stanley Brush a World Day of Prayer at the church Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock. Following this program, the evangelistic service will fol low one hour later with Rev. Floyd Workman in charge. Auxiliary Meeting Mrs. Wilma Johnson entertain ed last Monday evening at her home with a Stanley party. The evening was spent with games, and the demonstration by Mrs. Roma Jean Wharton. Cunningham of Shreve port, La., vice president of operations for the Texas Eastern Transmission Corp., was the principal speaker at the annual Chamber of Commerce dinner.
