The meeting will also be in the nature of an anni versary for the organization. Cross And Crown Class The Cross and Crown class of the Presbyterian church will en joy a pot luck dinner Sunday evening, March 10 in the church basement, beginning promptly at 5:30 o'clock. Knox-Ralston Vows Spoken In Indiana Ai.io Eileen Knox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Knox of Bristol, exchanged marriage vows with George Ralston, son of John Ralston, of McConnels ville, and Mrs. H. H. Smith, of Columbus, formerly of Caldwell, recently in Richmond, Ind. The couple was unattended. Miss Knox is a graduate of Man chester high school and is em ployed at the Coffee Shop in McConnelsville. Mr. Ralston is a graduate of M. and M. high school at McConnelsville and is assistant manager of the Mc Connelsville office of the City Loan. The couple is now residing in McConnelsville. The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. J. L. Gray, of Caldwell. Esther Circle Meets In Jessie Young Home The Esther Circle of Delicious refreshments were served during the social hour in keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme. She has been named Kathleen Marie. MV.9 II the W.S.C.S. of the First Methodist church was entertained Tuesday evening, March 5 in the home of Mrs. Jessie Young on North street. Companion hostesses were Lois Ziler, Bertha Boyd, Etta Kirkbride, Cora Farley, Martha Murrey and Clara Clark. Mrs. Lela Keyser presided in the absence of the circle chair man, Mrs. Mary M. Okey. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer in unison. Laura Fowler was in charge of the worship service. Edna Tarleton presented the program. Others participat ing in the program were Edna Racey, Elsie Kirchner, Iva Guil er and Lela Keyser. Mrs. Grace Henderson, a guest, spoke on her recent trip to the "United Nations". It was an nounced that the Rev. David Hively, chaplain at the Cam bridge State Hospital, would be the guest speaker at the general W.S.C.S. meeting to be held Tuesday evening, March 12. The World Day of Prayer was also announced for Friday, March 8 at 2:00 p. m. in the church sanctuary. The meeting closed with prayer by Iva Guiler. BROOKER Miss Thelma Freda Noll, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Noll of Dexter City route 2 became the bride of William Albert Brooker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Brooker of .Waterford route 1 in a recent ceremony in St. Henry's Catholic church at Harrietts ville. The double ring ceremony was read by the Rev. Julian Wenda, church pastor. .... Schilling and Jack Lang. Arrangements of pink gladiolia adorned the altar. The nuptial music was presented by Mrs. Paul Huffman, organist and the church choir. Their selections included "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother", "Ava Maria Stella" and the traditional wed ding marches. The bride was attired in a floor-length gown of lace and net over satin. The tight-fitting bcxlice featured long sleeves that came to points over the hands and a small Queen Anne collar. The skirt of lace over satin was very bouffant. Her veil of French illusion was held by a crown of seed pearls. She carried a cascade of red rosebuds. Miss Hazel Noll served as her sister's maid of honor. She wore a gown of pink. Here! Baptist Missionary Society Entertained The Ladies Missionary Society of the First Baptist church was entertained Tuesday evening, March 5 in the home of Mrs. Charles Doan, Caldwell route. The program was in charge of Mrs. Harold Brown. Each mem ber participated in the program by giving a scripture verse. Mrs. Raymond Moore, vice president, conducted the business session at which time election of officers for the ensuing year was held. Officers elected were Mrs. Moore, president Mrs. Ed. Ickes, vice president Mrs. Charles Mil ligan, secretary Mrs. Roy Wik ander, treasurer, and Mrs. Har old Brown, chairman of White Cross work. Letters from a number of foreign missionaries supported by the group were read. Delici ous refreshments were served during the social hour by the hostess assisted by Miss Jean Moore. Mrs. Mary Burik, of Byesville, vice president of the organiza tion, conducted the business meeting in the absence of the president. The group decided to hold a Day of Recollection on Sunday, March 24, at St. Bene dict's Catholic church, Cam bridge. Rev. S. J. Pekalla, Caldwell pastor, presided at the election of officers at which time the following officers were elected: Mrs. George Swan of Cambridge, was elected president Mrs. Mary Burik, of Byesville, was re-elect ed vice president Miss Marie Sonnefeld, of Cambridge, secre tary Mrs. Marie Reidy of Belle Valley, was elected treasurer, and Mrs. Ed Wahl, of Woods field, was elected to the position of auditor. M.N.O. Bridge Club Plays Tuesday Evening The M.N.O. Bridge club play ed Tuesday evening, March 5 in the home of Mrs. George Daugh erty. Bridge was the diversion of the eveninig with Mrs. Robert Searle, Mrs. Joseph Giallom bardo and Mrs. Verne Kalan winning the prizes. The tables were attractively decorated in keeping with the St. Patrick's Day theme. Follow ing the dinner an evening of bridge was enjoyed with Mrs. Harry Richcreek and Mrs. L. C. The new Mrs. Bates is a dauj Ky., and Mr. Bates' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold H. Bates, of Cumberland. Gladioli, chrysanthemums and carnations, flanked by seven branch candelabra, created a pretty wedding scene at the altar. The -bride was lovely in a ballerina length gown of French lace over net and taffeta. The fitted bodice featured a high neckline and the tulle veil was held in place by a small cap of lace. She carried a white orchid arranged on a white Bible. Her matron of honor, Mrs. Rose Mary Moss of Louisville, Ky., a former classmate of the •bride, wore a rose-red dress of taffeta and carried a bouquet of red roses and white carna tions. The bride's niece, Deb orah Neal of Louisville, Ky., wore white taffeta and carried a basket of rose petals. Donald Ziler, of near Cumber land, was best man for his cou sin: Ushers were Donald Coy of Cincinnati and Emmett Joseph of Zanesville. The bride's mother wore navy blue with white accessories and Mrs. Bates wore poudre blue with navy accessories. Both had a corsage of red roses.. The reception after the cere mony was held in the church social rooms. The new Mrs. Bates is a graduate of Berea college at Berea, Ky., with a degree in fine arts. She is employed with the Gallaher Drug Co., as a copy writer in the advertising depart ment. Mr. Bates graduated from Muskingum college in New Con cord with a degree in business administration. He is employed as a management analyist for the U. S. government. After a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada, the couple is resid ing at 1326 Keowee street, Dayton, 4. ROBERT BATES The marriage of Miss Joan Coy and Robert H. Bates was solemn ized on Feb. 17 at 2:30 p. m. in First Baptist Church, Dayton. Rev. Albert Pittman read the double ring ceremony following a suite of nuptial music by Miss Shirley Ferguson of Dayton and Stanley Dunkleberger, of Dayton. hter of Oscar Coy of Danville, DEATHS Jack Hutchins Jack Hutchins, of Macksburg, passed away Wednesday morn ing, March 6 at 6:00 o clock in the Marietta Osteopathic hospi tal where he had been a patient several days. Mr. Hutchins was suffering from a heart condition. Mr. Hutchins was preceded'in death by his wife, Nina, several years ago. The body was returned to the McVay funeral home where funeral arrangements are pend ing. James W. Bryan James Walter Bryan, 60, form er Noble county resident, passed away March 1 at the Mercy hos pital in Canton after an illness of one month. Mr. Bryan had been residing at 1112 Sixth street in Canton. The deceased was born in the Archer's Ridge community, Noble county, a son of James and Cordelia Weekley Bryan. He was united in marriage with Nora Noll of the Fulda com munity. Survivors include his widow of the home, three sons, James, John and Robert one daughter, Mrs. Jack Lawver and 10 grand children, all of Canton. Requiem high mass was held March 4 in St. John's Catholic church, Canton, and burial fol lowed in the church cemetery.
