Dykes, of Columbus, exchanged marriage vows with William Elwyn Harper, son of Mr. and Itfrs. Martin L. Harper, of Cald well route 4, in a recent cere mony in the Caldwell Free Methodist church parsonage. The Rev. James L. Mason officiated. Miss Dykes wore a street length dress of ice blue brocaded satin. The dress was accented by ft white net stole and navy blue and white accessories. The bride carried a white Bible topped with a spray of white carnations. Miss Enid Harper, of Colum bus, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She was fittired in a pastel pink frock With pink and black accessories. A corsage of pink rosebuds was pinned to her shoulderline. Miss Janis K. Parry, niece of the bridegroom, was flowergirl. She wore an ice blue brocaded satin frock with white and black accessories. Edgel Harper attended his brother as best man. For the wedding, Mrs. Dykes wore a steel blue dress with Igold accessories and a corsage of yellow rosebuds. Mrs. Harper chose a navy blue nylon dress with matching accessories and a deep red rosebud corsage. Following the wedding, a re ception was held at the home of the bridegroom's parents with Miss Mary Ann Dykes and Mrs. Earl Parry as hostesses. Thimble Circle Enjoys Dinner At Dexter City Mi'-. Velra Hutchinson, Dex ter City, and Mrs. Blanche Long, were companion hostesses to members of the Caldwell Thimble Circle, Thursday with a 12:30 o'clock dinner. Mrs. Roberta Cleary, presi dent, opened the meeting with the reading of a poem entitled "Friendless World". Twelve members were present including Mrs. Lorene Moseley who has been confined to her home since December 11. The next meeting will be held et the home of Mrs. Jessie Young O N 9 8 Annual Senior Tea Program Announced By Local BPW Club The third annual "Senior Tea' sponsored by the Caldwell Busi ness and Professional Women's club will be held Sunday, March 10 between the hours of 3:00 ai 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon the First Methodist church din ing room in Caldwell. According to Mrs. Berni Marquis, chairman of the t( a total of 71 invitations ha* been mailed to the senior gir in the Noble county and Cal well schools. The tea is for u the girls and their mother Assisting Mrs. Marquis in the arrangements are members the Federation, Finance ai Public Relations committees. The program will consist -f the welcome by Mary Ham s, two vocal selections by a trio composed of Susabelle McVay, Mary Secrest and Geraldin Martin, and a number of piai selections by James Carter. Catholic Women's Club Of Belle Valley Meets The Catholic Women's club of Corpus Christi Church in Belle Valley, held their regular mon thly meeting last Sunday even ing in the church hall. During the business session the resignation of Anne Kastelic as president was accepted with Marie Reidy being named to fill the vacancy. The new vice presi dent is Mary Barlock. Delicious refreshments were served during the social hour with Anne Macenko and Wilma Moushey in charge. Members present were Marie Reidy, Philomena Caldwell, Helen Macenko, Betty Thomas, Emma Lesko, Anna Wukelick, Wilma Moushey, Helen Gaydos, Margaret Mika, Mary Thomas, Mary Mesarchik, Leona Bonia, Anna Macenko, Mary Barlock, Susie Uro, Bonnie Bailey and Susie Minyo. Guests were Fr S. J. Pekalla, director of the group and Fr. Musialino of Lore City. The next meeting will be held on April 7 with Philomena Caldwell and Bonnie Bailey as hostesses. She was attired in a ballerina length gown of pale green or andy over taffeta accented with taffeta cummerbund of a lightly deeper shade of green She wore white organdy mitts and carried a colonial bouquet of pink carnations. The bride's attendants were Miss Martha Hamilton of Dela ware and Miss Glenna Ander son of Marion. Their gowns were identical to that of the maid of honor exceipt in color. Miss Hamilton wore pale pink and Miss Anderson wore pale green. Kach wore white organdy mitts and carried colonial bouquets of pink carnations and wore pink carnations in their hair. Timothy Fleming, brother of the bride, was best man. Ushers were James Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa James French of Terre Haute, Ind., and David Fleming of Greensburg, Pa brother of the bride. The bride's mother was attired in a blue ensemble with a cor sage of pink carnations and the bridegroom's mother was in navy blue with a carnation cor sage. A wedding reception and din ner was given at Ogle's Maple Shade Inn -by the bride's broth or, David Fleming, for 20 invited guests. The bride attended Ohio Uni versity at Athens for two years and received her registered nurses degree from Grant hos pital, Columbus. She was honor ably discharged from a two-year enlistment in the Army Nurses Corps where she attained the rank of first lieutenant. The bridegroom graduated from high school in Hot Springs Ark. and received his registered nurses degree from the Baptist Community hospital in Little DO YOU 1 Philomena Rectory MR. AND MRS. B. PAT COOK Miss Patricia Joan Fleming, daughter of Mr. arid Mrs. William Fleming of 815 Walnut street, Caldwell exchanged nuptial vows with B. Pat Cook, son of Mrs. Edith Cook and the late J. R. Cook of Hot Springs. Arkansas in a double ring ceremony Thursday, February 28 at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon at St. Philomena's Rectory in Caldwell. The Rev. Fr. S. J. Pekalla officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a ballerina length gown of white eyelet organdy over white satin. It was styled with a long tight fitting bodice and capped sleeves. The flared skirt ended in a long white organdy flounce. The gown featured a low rounded neck line. She wore a finger-tip veil of illusion attached to a pearl tiara. Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace which was a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a white Catholic marriage sacra ment upon which rested a sheaf of white carnations from which fell white satin streamers. THE JOURNAL, CALDWELL, OHIO Rock, Ark. Mr. and Mrs. Cook, while on their wedding trip, attended the weddings of each of her two attendants, Miss Martha Hamil ton who was married in Dela ware on March 1 and Miss Glenna Anderson, who was mar ried in Marion on March 2. The three girls graduated from Nurses Training at Grant hos pital, Columbus, and served to gether for two years in the Army Nurse Corp, including a year at the Tripler Army hospital in Honolulu, T. H. After the weddings, ihey will return to Little Rock, Ark, where they will reside at 118% Wolf street until the groom enters the University of Arkansas Medi cal School in Fayettsville, Ark. Out of town guests were from Toledo, Marion, Delaware, Hot Springs, Ark. Terre Haute, Indiana Red Oak, Iowa and Greensburg, Pa. Those attend ing from Caldwell were Mrs. Henry Sehott, Mrs. Clare Tipton, Mr. and Mrs. John Blackburn and Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Hutchins. Circle Four W. S. C. S. Holds Regular Meeting Circle Four of the W.S.C.S of the First Methodist church held their regular meeting last Tuesday evening in the chur dining room with Helen Harmon and Evelyn Johnson serving companion hostesses* The circle chairman, Ruth Winberg, conducted a short busi ness session at which time plan were made for the circle's par ticipatinjg in the Prayer Vigil at the church. Contests, under the direction of Mrs. Winberg, were enjoyed during the social hour with Louise Lewis and Nancy Rud^ winning the prizes. Club Holds Regular Meeting The Caldwell Business and Professional Women's club held heir regular meeting Monday vening, March 4 in the dining i'Om of the First Methodist hurch. At 6:30 o'clock, a dinner of vely appointments was served to 54 members and one guest. The tables were attractively H'corated in keeping with the i nance committee's theme with mall money trees forming the nter-pieces. Lela Keyser was lairman of the committee and the members were Mary Secrest, Marvlois Colley, Bernice Mills, Gertrude Hamilton and Verna 1't itten. The guest speaker for the evening was H. C. Secrest, sup rintendent of the Noble county hools. Mr. Secrest spoke on he "United Nations". A short xisiness meeting was conducted by the president, Nelle Startz an. laldwelT Mothers Club Entertained The Caldwell Mothers club was entertained Monday even ing, March 4 in the home of Ruth Wood in Bronze Heights with 20 members in attendance. The meeting was presided over by the president, Pat Parks. The group voted a contribution of 5.00 to the Red Cross. It was announced that a total of $572.39 had been realized by the Mothers March for Polio. Playground projects were also discussed. The program consisted of an interesting reading by Mary Scherr. Batesville Sunday School Class Enjoys Meeting The ladies of the Volunteer Sunday school class of the Batesville Methodist church were entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Leona Delong for their monthly social gather ing. A chicken dinner was en joyed at 6:30 o'clock. During the program hour, Mrs. Martha Eagon gave a birthday memorial theme to the great men whose birthdays were in February, with particular em phasis on Abraham Lincoln. Other features of the program were readings by Shirley Mc Peek and Pearl Cline vocal solo bl Blanche Atkinson and the contest period with Leota House and Pearl Ankrom in charge. For the March meeting, Shir ley McPeek will be the hostess and Pearl Ankrom the program leader, assisted by Leota House. Forest Grove Group Meets In Burrier Homt The Forest Grove Home De monstration group met recently in the home of Mrs. Etta Bur rier. The (project for the day was "cooking meats". A delicious covered dish dinner was enjoyed at noon. Members present were Mae Gardner, Mildred Pickenpnugh, Ethel lams, Jeanette Lowers. Geneva Foraker, Goldie Foster, Lura Ramage, and the hostess. Goldie Foster will be hostess to the group on March 13. The project for this meeting will be "cooking vegetables", a covered dish dinner will be served at noon. Roe, of the Batesville community, has accepted a position as reporter for The Jeffersonian, Cambridge. Miss Roe graduated from the Batesville high school and is now attending Cambridge business college.
