Z on Homemakers club held their regular monthly meeting, Thursday, at the home of Mrs. Cora Nicholson. The regular business hour was in charge of the president, Jean Crow. Following the cafeteria dinner at noon, Mrs. Crow gave the lesson on "Make Your Time Worthwhile." Mrs. Ava Groves was in charge of the contests, prizes being won by Norene Hively, Helen Secrest and Flor ence Larrick. Ava Groves won the door prize. The day was spent in quilting, sewing rug rags and cutting out names tags for Achievement Day Those present including above names were Minnie and Ruby Secrest, Zelma Williams, Edna Johnson, Clara Cunningham, Ida Bailey and Helen Milev. Mrs. Ester Groves was a guest. Builders Class The regular monthly meeting of the Builders M. E. Sunday school class was held Thursday evening in the church basement. Lois Gress was devotional lead er opening with sentence pray er. A trio consisting of Eileen Morland, Tommy Gress, and Litazella Huff accompanied on piano by Marie Mercer sang "Alone." The scripture lesson was taken from book of Matthew 28th chapter 1 to 10 verses. Charles Gress gave a book report on MHis Name Is Jesus." closing with class singing "He Lives." Following the business meet ing which was in charge of ihe president, Dorothy Winland, the program leader, Charlotte Sec rest. gave two reading "Gossip Town" and "In the Evening a Prayer." Two stunt acts were given by various members of class. Sue Faught was contest leader with Pearl Sprout and Doris Stranathan winners. Mrs. Evelyn Hannon and Mrs. Clarice McKee and Myrtle Bayly were guests. A lunch was served in the dining room which was decorat ed in keeping with St. Patrick's day by the hostess, Norene and Phyllis Hively, Patty Schafer and Mona Eddy to following mem bers other than about mentioned: Alveretta Teel, Betty and Helen Miley, Barbara and Ester Buc key, Eulalia McKee, Eileen Wil liams, Frances Mustard, Hazel Watkins. Pete Trott was dismissed last Tuesday from the University hos pital at Columbus after under going surgery. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and clear. Remove from heat. Add remaining 1/4 cup sugar, butter, almond extract and red coloring and stir to blend. Coo! sauce while making crust. Fold sauce into cherries when ready to put filling into pie. Pour into 9-inch pastry-lined pie pan. Arrange pastry strips, lattice fashion, over filling. Use 7 strips each way and cut strips to reel on edge of pie plate. Fold hanging pie crust up over strips and press together. Flute edge of pie. Bake at 425 for 20 minutee reduce oven temperature to 350* and continue baking 25 minutes or until crust is well browned. *If canned cherries are used, increase sugar to 1-1/2 cupi. **lf pie is to be served completely oooled, cornstarch may be re duced to 8-1/2 tablespoons. Cra« 2-1/3 cups sifted all-purpose 1/4 eup lard flour 1/2 cup vegetable shortening 1 teaspoon salt 4 tablespoons cold water Add salt to sifted flour and resift into bowl. Cut in lard with pastry blender until mixture looks like very fine meal. Add the vegetable shortening to the mixture and cut in until particles are the size of small peas. Add the cold water, a tablespoon at a time, mixing lightly with fork until all the flour is moistened and dough follows the fork around the bowl. Press dough into two balls, one slightly larger. Roll largest piece between two pieces of waxed paper. Fit into 9-inch pie pan. Trim edge of pastry allowing about one-half inch overhang. Each mem ber repeated a Bible verse to answer roll call. Pledges to Unit ed States, Christian and Temper ance flags were repeated. L.T.L. pledge and slogans, lesson on love as recorded in Bible by leader with members repeating ihe golden text of Bible. The M.Y.F. will meet at 7:30 p. m. at the Methodist church with Judy Walters, presiding. Rev. Ola Teters will preach at 8:00 o'clock. Everyone invited to all the services.
