To Be Installed As College Head Recommendations for revising the schedule of extra-curricular activity at the college will be studied by the Student Council in an effort to pro vide more free time on week day evenings. Activity in which any one student participates also may be limited. Three faculty members attended a meeting called by the state de partment of education, last Thurs day in Columbus. Bluffton delegates were Dr. L. L. Ramseyer, president Dr. J. S. Schultz, dean and head of the department of education, and Lloyd Ramseyer, president of Bluffton college who will be officially inaugurated Friday. The ceremony will take place in the college chapel in the afternoon at 4 o’clock in the presence of represence of representatives of more than thirty colleges and universities. Following the inauguration a banquet will be held in his honor at Ropp hall at 6:15 o’clock. CAMPUS COMMENT First lecture in the 1939 marriage course was given Monday night in the chapel by Rev. S. M. Davidian, pastor of the Lima Central Church of Christ. “The Psychology of Marriage” was the subject of kev. Davidian’s talk. Bluffton was the first Ohio college to adopt a course in marriage training. Members of the campus Y. W. C. A. organization held a special de votional and candle light service last week. Mrs. P. W. Stauffer, advisor of the group, read selected poems while organ music was played. Prof. J. P. Klassen, head of the art department. Members of the college peace ac tion committee attended a pacifist conference held in Cincinnati last week-end. Those making the trip from here included Bertan Smucker, chairman of the Bluffton committee James Griffith, president of the In- ternational Relations club Raymond Ramseyer and Richard Weaver. A scavenger hunt, sponsored by the college social committee, was held last Saturday night. In the hunt, participants were taken to all parts of the town and the campus. E. Raymond Wilson, executive sec retary of the Peace section of the American Friends Service committee, was a speaker at meetings on the campus Tuesday. Alumni and former students will return to the campus this week-end for one of the most attractive home coming programs in years. Broadcast Inaugural Of College President Bluffton college will sponsor twice weekly radio broadcasts over Station WLOK, in Lima, beginning this Fri day, it was announced this week by Dr. L. L. Ramseyer, president of the school. One-half hour programs will be aired over the Lima station from 4 to 4:30 p. m. each Tuesday and Fri day, with the broadcasts originating in a studio located in the chapel of College hall. OHIO Homecoming Queen Bluffton College Plans Gala Festivities for Inaugural and Homecoming Hobson of Damascus, Bluffton college senior and known on the campus as “Peg”, who will preside at the college homecoming fes tivities, Saturday. She was chosen for the honor by a vote of the entire student body from a field of four senior girls nominated by the varsity football squad. Miss Hobson will be crowned queen in a colorful service in the chapel Saturday morning and at the football game Saturday night she will present flowers to captains of the Bluffton and Grand Rapids college teams. Formal dedication of the new campus studio will be featured on next Tuesday’s broadcast The col lege vesper choir will sing and the college orchestra will play. Special vocal selections will be sung by Wilson Jones, bass, a student in the department of music. The radio board is composed of Dr. Ramseyer, Prof. J. H. Loganbill, Dr. J. S. Schultz, Dr. C. Henry Smith, Prof. Russell A. Lantz, Prof. Sidney Hauenstein, Prof. Otto Holtkamp and Prof. Paul W. Stauffer. Beavers First Home Game Is This Week Bluffton college’s homecoming tilt with Grand Rapids university under the lights at the Harmon field sta dium this week will be the Burcky men’s first home appearance of the season. Only two other home game are scheduled, North Manchester on Nov. 4 and Assumption on Nov. 11, neith er of which are night tilts. Crack Band Will Be Here For Homecoming Celina High's crack parading band of 55 pieces will put on a special halftime-intermission exhibition this Saturday night at Bluffton college’s homecoming tilt with Grand Rapids university, on the Harmon field grid iron.
