Bluffton High gridders have a good chance to break their extended losing streak when they meet Lima Shawnee Friday night on the Har mon field gridiron, in the Pirates closing tilt of the season. Shawnee’s season record is worse than that of Bluffton, and the Pi rates will go into the fray with the dopesters giving them a slight ad vantage. On the basis of comparative scores Bluffton has the edge. Shawnee lost to Pandora, a team that the Pirates defeated, and Celina walloped the Indians, 50 to 0, Bluffton having SOCIETIES and CLUBS Coining Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. High School To Close Season In Tilt With Shawnee Here Friday Church Wedding Announcement has been made of the approaching marriage of Miss Norma Luginbuhl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cal Luginbuhl to Myron Luginbill, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Presbyterian Missionary Society The Presbyterian Missionary so ciety will hold its annual guest night at the home of Mrs. R. L. Triplett this Wednesday night. Alice Freeman Club The Alice Freeman club met last Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Clay ton Bixel. The question: Resolved that billboard advertising should be outlawed in Ohio, was the subject of a debate between Mrs. Edwin Amstutz and Mrs. R. A. Lantz Legion Auxiliary The American Legion auxiliary will meet at the Legion hall next Tues day night at 8 o’clock. Mrs. W. A. Amstutz represented West Ohio classis at a national con ference of the Woman’s Guild of the Evangelical and Reformed churches held in Cleveland from Wednesday un til Friday of the past week. Amico Club The Amico club met with Mrs. Bess Goodman, Friday night. Following the program bunco was payed with Estella Core receiving first prize and Gynth Watkins the club prize. The club will meet with Gynyth Watkins on Nov. 17 with Esther Kirkland in charge of the program. Style Show The Future Homemakers of Bluff ton high school will sponsor a style show next Wenesday night at 7:30 o’clock in the high school cafeteria. There will be a showing of dresses made in home economic classes, also a playlett “Abigail’s Print Shop’’ fol lowed by a silver tea in the home economics room. Anyone interested is invited. G. H. M. C. Meets Mrs. Ross Irwin opened her home to the Gertrude Hoy Missionary Cir cle of the St. John’s Evangelical Reformed church Monday evening for their November meeting. The program was based on the theme, “We Follow Thee”. Follow ing the service of worship Mrs. Herman Badertscher reviewed the third chapter of the study book “Homeland Harvest”. The December meeting will be held December 11 at the Marden Basinger home with Thelma Basinger as hostess and Marilla Burns as as sistant hostess. Bridal Shower and Announcement In honor of Mrs. Margaret Jones Herr, a recent bride, Miss Naomi Welty entertained Tuesday night at a shower at her home, assisted by Miss Bernice Matter. The evening was spent in needle work and playing rook, prizes being won by Misses Ethelyn Oyer and Theda Hankish. Following refresh ments, the bride received many use ful gifts. Inscribed on favors was announcement of the engagement of Miss Cleora Hofer and Henry Shaller. Invited guests were: Misses Carol Cookson. Ada beat Shawnee 31 to 0, and edged Bluffton, 13-9. Since winning their opening game of the season, Bluffton has lost seven in a row, while looking alternately good and bad. This week, however, it is expected that the Dillermen will come back into their own, and close the season successfully. Advance indications point to Shaw nee having a bigger team than that put on the field by Bluffton, but re ports indicate that the locals are more versatile and consequently have a slight edge.
