THURSDAY, JULY 4, 1940 Mrs. Armin Hauenstein is spending the week with her sister, Miss Ruth Todd in Cincinnati. Misses Virginia Gill and Maurine King employed at the Meter works are spending a week’s vacation sight seeing in Florida. Mrs. Anna House and Mrs. Clyde Reed of Columbus were guests of Mrs. J. A. Warren of Orange town ship last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Oakley and sons Donald and Maurice of Nellis, W. Va., visited Miss Alice Ludwig of Popular street the latter part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Mann and little son of Atlanta, Ga., are spend ing several days here with his moth er, Mrs. Edith Mann. Mr. Mann will return to Atlanta later this month while his wife and son will take an extensive motor trip thru the w’est. Mr. and Mrs. Steiner Geiger and family returned to their home in Green Springs, Sunday after spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Stultz on Grove street. Mr. and Mr. Francis Devier and Mr. and Mrs. Donivan Stratton of Columbus Grove are spending the week on a motor trip to Niagara Falls and Canada and other points of in terest. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Gotshall of South Main street, accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Anna Henry will leave Friday for Scio to visit rel atives over the week end. Mrs. Henry will remain at that place for the coming month. Mrs. Roland Bixler has returned to her home in New Haven, Conn., after a month’s visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Triplett of Campus Drive. She was accom panied by her sister, Miss Barbara Jean Triplett who will spend several weeks in New Haven. A number of young people from Bluffton Church of Christ are spend ing the week at Lakeside attending a young people’s conference. Prof. Lewis Steiner of Winfield, Kansas, called on friends here during the past week. Mr. Steiner was a former teacher in the Bluffton schools and interested in the clothing busi ness here. The family moved to Kan sas about forty-five years ago. Since that time Mr. Steiner has been a member of the faculty of St. John’s Lutheran college in Winfield. Mrs. M. W. Baumgartner and dau ghters Kae and Betty and Mrs. Gor don Hale all of Scarsdale, N. Y., spent the week end at the home of Mrs. Baumgartner’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bogart of Cherry street. Mrs. Baumgartner and Mrs. Hale left Tuesday morning, returning to their home in Scarsdale while Misses Kae and Betty Baumgartner will remain here for several weeks’ visit at the home of their grandparents. Triplett entertained at a week end house party from Thurs day until Monday a group of charter members of Iota chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority of the Univer sity of Illinois. Thirteen of the original 28 mem bers were present for the fourth biennial gathering to renew' former friendships of college days. A his tory of Iota chapter is being com piled by the group from the found ing of the chapter to date. Of the 28 charter members 26 are living, residing in widely scattered sections of the country. Honor Bride Honoring Mrs. Dwight Zimmerly a recent bride, Edith Zimmerly, Jean Moore, Golda Wiess, and Eva Mar tin entertained at the latter’s home last Thursday evening with a wyed ding show’er. The evening was spent outside with Japanese lanterns in the arbor. Games were enjoyed by all with the prizes being aw’arded to Glada Wil kins and the honor bride, Mrs. Zim merly. During the evening alarm clocks disclosed the gifts in the nearby bushes after w’hich a weiner roast was enjoyed. Mr. Harding, a relative, who has been seriously ill for several weeks, died Tuesday night.
