Sweeney of Dallas, Texas, visited Thursday night at the home of her brother, Albert Benroth and family and friends here. The couple were enroute to Colorado after spending several days in Phila delphia where Mrs. Sweeney christen ed a large oil tanker launched by the Sun Oil company. Mrs. Sweeney was formerly Miss Rose Renroth of this place. Her husband has been an ex ecutive of the oil company for many years. Those from out of town attending the funeral services held for John J. Mrs. Oscar Bogart of Orlando, Fla., is spending a month here with Mrs. Florence Bogart and Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Mann of South Jackson street. Mrs. Charles Miller of South Main street, returned home Sunday after spending a week at the Mr. and Mrs. Charles Null residence in Orrville. Mrs. Byron Stratton of New York City and Miss Madeline McCune of McFadden, Wyoming, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. McCune on Geiger street. Mrs. Rhoda Lugibill Hinkey who has been visiting here left last Thurs day for Beulah Beach near Vermillion on Lake Erie where she is attending a series of summer meetings. Later she will return to Ft. Wayne There will be an ice cream social at Richland grange next Tuesday night. Music and entertainment together with free motion pictures at 9 o’clock will be provided. Miss Bette Null, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Null of Orrville, who has been visiting for the last ten days at the Charles Miller home on South Main street, will return to Orr ville, Thursday. Mr. Mohler, a former Bluffton resident, is in the seed busi ness and has a large store in Birming ham. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Murray of Cherry street entertained over the week end Mr. and Mrs. Frank Young of Cincinnati. Mrs. Young is a daughter of the late Dr. Mayne Murray, an elder brother of the Murray triplets. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blosser and family who occupy the Francis Babione property on North Jackson street will move the last of this month to Seven Mile, Ohio, near Hamilton, where Mr. Blosser will teach in the high school during the coming year. SOCIETIES and CLUBS $ Name Wedding Date Wedding of Miss Emma Detweiler and Harold Schultz, former Bluffton college students and well known here, will take place on August 31, it was announced the first of the week. The bride-elect is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. I. R. Detweiler of Bloomington, Ill., formerly of Bluff ton. Mr. Schultz, the son of Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Schultz, is employed in the engineering department of the Bendix corporation at South Bend, Ind. Sew and So 4-H Club The Sew and So 4-H club will meet at the home of Miriam Sch aeublin, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. To Wed Friday Wedding of Miss Marcella Kim mel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira J. Kimmel of Orange township and William Fiser of Lima will take place at the home of the bride’s par ents, Friday. The date will mark the fortieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kimmel. Both Miss Kimmel and Mr. Fiser are employed in Lima and will re side in that city. Church Wedding Wedding of Miss Mae Belle Am stutz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Amstutz of this place and Harold W. Stevens of Upper San dusky will take place at the First Mennonite church here, Saturday night, August 24 at 8 o’clock. Rev. H. T. Unruh, pastor of the bride will officiate. Announcement of the com ing wedding was made the first of the week. Garden Club Members of the Garden club will hold their annual picnic on the College campus, Tuesday, August 13 at 6 p. m. Campfire Girls Members of the Camp Fire Girls council surprised Sara Louise Am stutz at her home northwest of town last Wednesday in honor of her thirteenth birthday anniversary. After an afternoon of games and contests a picnic lunch was served on the lawn. Those enjoying the affair were: Doris Jean Barber, Jean Ann Steinman, Alice Jean Bixel, Mary Louise Schmidt, Nadine Allman, Genevieve Buhler, Juanita Bame, Janet Steiner, Eileen Weinhold, Esther Berky, Julee Garmatter and the honor guest Sara Amstutz. Enjoy Week’s Camping Eight Gold Star 4-H members to gether with their advisor enjoyed a six day outing at Camp Ohio, the state 4-H camp in Licking county. Those attending camp were: Jose phine Augsburger, Gladys Klingler, Ladonna Hartman, Mona Myrl Hath away, Violet Slusser, Judith Mont gomery, Treva Marquart and Norma Montgomery. Mrs. Frank Mont gomery assisted in leadership at camp. Josephine Augsburger played in the camp band and seven girls earn ed Red Cross swimming certificates under the instructor provided by the state extension service. A nature instructor, camp manager and nurse were also furnished by the state. Busy Bees 4-H Club The Busy Bees 4-H club will meet next Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock. Judging of three projects will be done at this meeting. Legion Auxiliary The Bluffton Legion auxiliary will meet at the Legion hall next Tues day night at 8 o’clock. To Wed in West Virginia Wedding of two former Bluffton college students, Miss Marjorie Bloomquist, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. E. W. Bloomquist of Clarks burg, W. Va., and Merle Ramseyer of Lima, will take place Thursday afternoon, August 15 at 4 o’clock in the First Baptist church in Clarks burg. Rev. Bloomquist, father of the bride and pastor of the church will officiate. Miss Bloomquist has selected her sister Miss Evangel Bloomquist for her maid of honor, while William J. Ramseyer, of Normal, Ill., will act as best man for his brother. A re ception will be held in the Bloom quist home following the ceremony. The bride elect recently completed her junior year at Bluffton college. She was graduated from Central high school, Lima, while her father Rev. Bloomquist held the pastorate of the First Baptist church in that city. Mr. Ramseyer who is the son of Mrs. Louis Ramseyer, of Normal, Ill., attended Illinois State college at Normal, and was graduated from Bluffton college in 1936. He is boys secretary at the Lima Y. M. C. A. Weber-Edie Nuptials At Pandora Sunday At the home of the officiating minister Rev. P. E. Whitmer, of Pandora, pastor of the bride, took place the wedding of Miss Betty Jean Weber, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Weber of Pandora and Don Edie of Bluffton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Edie of Findlay, Sunday evening at 8 o’clock. Rev. Whitmer, pastor of Grace Mennonite church, used the impres sive single ring service for the nup tial ceremony. The bride was attired for the oc casion in a dusty rose crepe dress of street length trimmed in white braid and white accessories. Her only attendant was her sister, Miss Pearl Weber who wore a rose spun rayon dress also with white accessories. Both the bride and her attendant wore corsages of pastel summer flowers. The groom and his best man, Robert Balmer of Bluffton, wore dark blue suits. The bride is a graduate of Pan dora high school of the class of 1938 and the groom attended Rawson high school. Following the ceremony the couple left on a wedding trip thru the east. Upon their return they will reside in Bluffton where Mr. Edie is em ployed at the Bixel Motor sales.
