Army Air Base Near Famous Spot The war department has called for bids on the combination air and seaplane base on Roanoke island, only a few miles from Kitty Hawk where the Wright brothers made the first flight 38 years ago. The port will cost approximately half a mil lion dollars. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Davidson and Mr. William Good attended a re union in Allentown, Ohio, Sunday. Miss Georgiania Rew of Kings ville, Ohio and Dr. Allen C. Neis wander of this place were united in marriage, Saturday at N. Kingsville. A reception was held in the Dr. Neiswander home Sunday. Miss Susan Lehman, who was tak ing treatments the past two weeks at the Community hospital at Bluff ton, was operated on for goitre last Friday, and is getting along nicely. Miss Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Basinger, near Colum bus Grove, was awarded her Master degree in English at Ohio State university, Columbus last Monday evening. She is a former teacher in the public schools at Columbus Grove. Pvt. Paul Augsburger of Daniels Field, Augusta, Ga., who spent ten days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Augsburger and brothers and sisters, left last Saturday afternoon and was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Augsburger and Mr. and Mrs. Watson Steiner as far as Cincinnati. Basinger Funeral Home Bluffton, Ohio THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 1942 Tuesday Deadline For Auto Stamps Bluffton residents will have until next Tuesday to purchase the new federal automobile tax stamp which must be displayed on all automobiles for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The stamps have been on sale at the Bluffton post office since June 11. Motorists must pay $5 for the stamp which replaces the temporary stamp bought last February for $2.09. Each new’ stamp is serially num bered and has space on the back for recording the make, model, serial number and state license number of the vehicle for which it is issued. The stamp is gummed on its face. Possession of the stamp will be required of anyone operating his automobile after July 1, and in ad dition gasoline ration cards may be obtained only upon presentation of the stamp. Post offices are selling stamps for cash only and no mail order busi ness is being conducted.
