Dr. Dan Gilbert, noted author and lecturer is to speak at the St. John church on Friday and Saturday even ings at the Missionary church in Pan dora, Sunday afternoon and at the Ebenezer church, Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. William Brabham of Baton Rouge, La., are visiting rela tives and friends in the community at present. Adam Suter, highly respected cit izen and life time resident of this lo cality, passed away after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Burkholder and family last Friday at the age of 79 years. Funeral services were held at the Grace church, Pandora, Mon day. The Amstutz reunion was held at the school house in Pandora, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schutz are the happy parents of a baby girl born to them Friday. Mrs. Will Balmer of Ft. Wayne, died Monday morning at her home. Funeral sendees for her were held on Wednesday morning. Relatives in this community’ attended the services. Harvey Moser, w’ho was in failing health, underwent a successful opera tion Monday at the Community hos pital in Bluffton. Mrs. Marlin Zrveitzer an-d grand daughter, Candy Reiter and Mrs. Mary Sommer, visited with the form er’s children at Pontiac, Mich., week before last. Karen Ann is the name of the daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Basinger last Thursday at the Com munity hospital in Bluffton. She wras removed from the hospital to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sommer, where she is being cared for. The Ladies chorus, members of the Ebenezer church and a few invited guests were very pleasantly enter tained with their director, Mabel Am stutz at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eph Amstutz on Tuesday evening. Miss Esther Olsen of Washington, D. Herbert Hilty is gradually improv ing at home. Members of the St. John male chor us presented a program at the Han cock county infirmary, Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cooper of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and son Frederick of Galion, were Sunday visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Ba singer. Farmers are having ideal hay mak ing weather and a large acreage is being harvested now. The Amstutz cannery operated on Tuesday of this week, the first of the season. Sad news was received here last Saturday of the death of Robert Garr McCrady, son of Mrs. Josephine (Wenger( McCready of Chicago. He was one of the fifty-eight who lost their lives a short time ago when the vessel, Coast Guard Cutter, Ecam ba sunk in the Atlantic. Betty, Joe and Billy Frary of Mt. Vernon, were spending the week at the home of their grandmother Mrs. Josephine Howa Moser and Mr. and Mrs and family. East Orange Mr. and Mrs. John Caris, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ream and children, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Warren and son en joyed ice cream and cake last Mon day evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Stewart and daughter, Jeannine. All farmers and farm groups now may sell wool direct to mills instead of only to the Commodity Credit Corp oration as was required until Order No. 50 was amended June J2. Alfalfa seed can be profitably pro duced in Ohio. The variegated vari eties have produced the best yields of seed in this state, and the agrono mists at Ohio State University rec ommend using the second crop of alfalfa for seed. The crop should be cut when two-thirds of the seed pods have turned brown or black. Present market conditions and fu ture prospects indicate Ohio farmers can carry’ pigs on pasture longer than usual in 1943 because there will not be the sharp decline in prices ordin arily expected at the peak of the late fall marketing season.
