Mrs. Fred Basting, of Bloomington Ill., mother of Mrs. Phares Bixel and her aunt Mrs. C. O. Miller of Peoria, Ill., arrived last Thursday to visit the remainder of the week with the Phares Bixel family. On Mon day morning Mrs. Basting left for Pittsburgh, to visit with her two daughters Fern and Marjorie for some time, after which she will return to this place and stay a few weeks longer. Mrs. Miller also left on Monday to visit with her parents at Massillon. Omer Gratz went to Chicago last Thursday on business. Mrs. Mary Riggenbach of near Columbus Grove spent the past week visiting her daughter, Mrs. Hiram Welty and family of Ft. Wayne. She accompanied the Welty family to this place and they all attended the Haas reunion. Announcement has been received here of the wedding of Lester Diller son of Amos Diller of Orrville, form erly of the Settlement, to Miss Rose Marie Amstutz of Dalton. The wed ding took place at Salem Mennonite church near Dalton, Sunday. Rev. A. S. Rosenberger, the pastor, officiated. Mr. Diller operated a tile mill when the family lived here a number of years ago. Noah Leichty is assisting Lloyd Basinger with his farming this sum mer. Miss Jennie Diller, acting superin tendent of Lima Memorial hospital who left for post graduate work in Chicago, was honored at a farewell party last Friday evening. Miss Wilma Augsburger and Miss Elaine Welty, will arrive home the first of next week for their summer vacations with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Menno Augsburger and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Welty. They will stop at Chicago with the formers sister Rev. and Mrs. Landolin Amstutz, over Sunday. They both were stu dents at the Grace Bible Institute of Omaha, Nebraska Miss Juanita Weber, bride-elect of Harry Schumacher of I’andora was complimented at a shower given, Tuesday evening by Miss Verena Augsburger at her home in Pandora. The evening was spent with various games and a dainty lunch was served following "the gift shower. The wed ding will take place on Friday, at Lima. The Mennonite churches of this community are choosing their dele gates to represent their congrega tions at the Middle District and General Conferences which are to convene at Pulaski, Iowa, and New ton, Kansas during the middle part of August. Richard Boehr submitted to an ap pendictomy at the Bluffton hospital last Saturday. Earl Lehman accompanied his lady friend, Miss Edith Stucky to her home at Deer Creek, Ill., last Friday and returned home Monday.
