Mrs. Wayne Deppler of Findlay was a visitor at the Deppler home here Sunday. Edw’in Sutter of Detroit visited rel atives and friends in the Bluffton and Pandora district the first of the week. Sutter who attended Bluffton college 35 years ago is now connected with a large department store in Detroit. Mrs. Eli Fett of Bentley road has as guests the past week her nephew Rev. Weldon Klopfenstein, Baptist minister of Momence, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Berlingcourt of Mishaw’a ka, Ind., and their daughter Mrs. Es sie Wakenshaw of Chicago. County Tennis Meet To Be Played Here Bluffton will be host to the Allen county tennis tournament again this year, with tourney play starting Sat urday afternoon on the Bluffton city courts. Entries will be received by W. A. How’e, of Bluffton, until 6 p. m. Friday, and pairings will be made that night. Competition in the county matches w’ill be in men’s singles, women’s singles, junior singles and men’s doubles Carl Hutchins, wrho wron the men’s singles title last year and retained the county trophy by winning it for the third time, will be a competitor again this year, as also will be Nate Ganger, runnerup last season. Other defending champions who w’ill play here are Hutchins and Lou Zeamans in men’s doubles and June Widner, women’s singles. Bluffton Tennis club members who are serving as a committee in charge of 4the tournament include Clair Fett, Homer Bracy and Mar garet Detwiler. Trophies for the men’s singles champion and runnerup are donated by the Lima News, and the Coca Cola Bottling Works of Lima is pro viding the women’s trophy. All matches will be ended by August 27, and tournament games will be played on the local courts every night next week. News Want-Ads Bring Results. Farm Bureau Picnic Annual picnic of the Allen County Farm Bureau will ‘be held Friday at Lima City Park. A basket dinner at noon will be followed by games and contests. Harry’ Culbreth of the Ohio Farm Bureau organization department will be the principal speaker. Farm Bureau advisory council members, the youth groups, Co-op patrons and Farm Bureau members are invited. Roll Of Honor Names of four additional men who left last week for induction into the armed forces have been added to the Bluffton High school Roll of Honor. They are Donavin Lee Sommer, Class of 1936 Wilmer John Leh man, Class of 1942 William Pugh Mericle, Class of 1944, and Richard Charles Rockey, Ex-class of 1945. Neil Schmidt, ex-45, in navy. Ray mond Holden is in the marines in stead of army as previously stated. Cadet Robert Watkins Ends Flight Training Aviation Cadet Robert R. Wat kins, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert Watkins of Spring street has completed his basic flight training at the AAF Pilot School, Gunther Field, Montgomery, Alabama, it was announced by the commandant of cadets at this field. Cadet Watkins received his pri mary training at Dorr Field, Fla. While at Gunther Field, Cadet Watkins has logged approximately 70 hours in basic training ships. Those flying hours include cross country navigation flights, night flights and formation flying. His advanced training will be given at another school in the vast AAF Training Command. Rev. Unruh Leads St. John Singspiration Rev. D. J. Unruh will be leader of the Singspiration at the St. John Mennonite church, near Pandora, next Sunday night, his last appear ance before leaving for Kansas. Rev. Dale Sommers has been con tacted as the Singspiration leader for the last Sunday in August. BOY SCOUT NEWS Troop No. 82 By Morris Groman Thirteen members of the troop met at Gaiffe’s grove Monday evening where they camped overnight. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Wood row Little. Ralph Stager and Marvin Bronson have completed their tenderfoot test requirements and are eligible to join the troop. Their addition will make a total of 27 scouts in the troop. Waste paper will be collected again this Saturday afternoon by both of Bluffton’s Boy Scout troops. The scouts will meet at the town hall at 1 p. m. to start the collection rounds of the town. Maynard Pogue returned last week after spending five weeks at Camp Defiance on the camp staff.
