Max McCafferty has returned to the Army Ordnance Depot, Atlanta, Ga., after spending a fourteen day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl McCafferty. Miss Vera Reichenbach, civilian em ploye in the Navy Shore Patrol at San Diego, Calif., is spending her va cation here with her parents, Post master and Mrs. Ed Reichenbach of West Elm street. Clarence Garlinger of Majave, Calif, a former Bluffton resident who went to California 37 years ago is visiting at the home of his brother, John Gar linger. Before going to California he was foreman of the bridge crew on this section of the Nickel Plate. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Strumpell of Sumney, Iowa, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Fett of Campus Drive from Friday until Tuesday. They were joined Sunday by their son Capt. Harry Strumpell, Jr., of Wright Field, Dayton. Mrs. Strumpell is the former Faye Mason, a sister of Mrs. Fett. Pandora Dr. H. A. Niswander of Pandora, health commissioner of Putnam county, is arranging a baby health contest for Putnam county babies only on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 5, be tween the hours of ten A. M. and 2 P. M., with an outside pediatrician examining the babies. The Ottawa Kiwanis club is backing the contest. Mrs. Sidney Steiner entertained the Advance Club at their first meeting of the year, Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Amos Bracy will be hostess to the Bi-C'entenrial club, Saturday! evening Sept. 23. The Rev. Clayton Steiner family recently moved to Ft. Wayne, where he is pastor of the First Missionary church. Miss Rebecca Marshall will attend O. S. U. this year. Rev. and Mrs. W. F. Mrs. arie Williams of Gilboa has I gone to Rensselaer, Ind., where she will act as housemother for the girls attending the Monnett school. Miss Zoa Frantz, a fonner teacher at Col umbus Grove, teaches in this school. Dale Snavely and family and Chas. Krohn of Holgate, visited at the Hir am Krohn home, Sunday. The M. E. church will hold its Rally Day Program the first Sunday in Oc tober. Louis Risser attended the Lima Presbytery meeting at Celina, Mon day. Mrs. Milt Lehman and Mrs. J. C. Reese spent Sunday afternoon with the Dr. Waldo Sutter family at Wat erville. These girsl are to demonstrate what colors to wear with different complexions. Mrs. Aaron Hilty is the local leader of the girls club. The program included a panel discussion on post war prob lems in charge of Mrs. Esther Begg, Mrs. Ethel Marshall and Mrs. Helen Begg. Legion Auxiliary Bluffton Legion Auxiliary will elect officers at its meeting next Tuesday night in the Legion hall at 8 o’clock. Bridal Shower The Ever Ready class of the Church of Christ gave a shower Friday night at the home of Myda Jane Manges honoring Miss Mary Lou Carr, whose wedding to David Yoder took place on Sunday.
