Unruh of Hillsboro, Kansas, delivered the sermon Sunday morning at the First Mennonite church here, where he was formerly pastor, and spent the week end visit ing former parishioners and friends. He came here from Chicago where he was called to attend a church meeting. Rev. Unruh is at present pastor of the Mennonite church in Hillsboro. Organization for the Red Cross canvass in Richland township has been completed, it is announced by Mrs. W. E. Marshall, chairman. A total of $913 was raised last year. Call Conservation Advisory Meeting Recommendations for hunting reg ulations next fall and other conser vation activity will be drafted at a public hearing called by the Allen County Conservation Advisory com mittee on Wednesday night of next week at Memorial hall, Lima, at 8 o’clock. Recommendations adopted at the meeting will be forwarded to the di vision of Ohio Conservation and Nat ural Resources, Columbus. Election of officers also will take place. The meeting is open to individuals or groups in the county interested in conservation including granges, farm organizations, sportsmen’s clubs, and others. Officers of the committee are: Pres. ,Silas Diller vice pres., Wil liam Edwards sec.-treas., Herbert Rupright farmer representative, Raymond Stratton, all of Bluffton, and Don Kephart of Lima, sports men’s representative. Seek Female Office Workers For War Aid Young woman office workers are being sought for various types of office work at Wright Field, Dayton, the U. S. Civil Service Commission office for this area, Toledo, an nounced. Experience is not necessary for these clerical-stenographic-typing po sitions, which pay a starting salary of $1,7.52 a year. Applicants will be given a 12-week training course, tui tion free, at Tiffin University, Tiffin, Ohio. While in training under War Department supervision, young wom en receive $130 a month. M. C. A. Monday night. Marvin Bronson, James Huber and Addison Myers passed first-class swimming tests at the party. During this week, Marvin Bronson and Ralph Duniftm will distribute Red Cross posters in the business district, and Roger Linden, Ralph Dunifon, Bobby Neuenschwander and Morris Groman will be in charge of placing Red Cross flags in front of the business houses on Main street each day. Next Monday’s meeting will be in troop headquarters at the town hall. PAGE rn v Mother Of Former Bluffton Man Dies Funeral services were held Wed nesday afternoon in Vaughnsville for Mrs. R. M. Davies, 64, who died at her home one and one-half miles west of that place Monday night. Mrs. Davies was the mother of Pfc. Richard “Dick” Davies, form erly of Bluffton, now in the south west Pacific. He is the husband bf the former Vernice McElroy now liv ing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McElroy of South Main street. Following the funeral services Wednesday afternoon interment was made in the Vaughnsville cemetery. Besides her son who formerly lived here, she is survived by her husband and two other sons, one daughter, a sister and a brother.
