Mr. and Mrs. David Diller and son David III of Waltham, Mass., are visiting at the home of his brother Paul Diller and family of South Main street for two weeks. Mrs. Hannah Swank, former Bluff ton resident who has been in Lima with her daughter, Mrs. I. A. Zay is making her home for the summer with Mrs. Noah Zuercher of South Main street. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Baumgartner of South Main street have as their guests this week: Mr. and Mrs. K. K. Kauffman and son of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Cunning ham and family of Lakewood. Boy Scout troop No. 82 will hold an ice cream social on the Presby terian church lawn, Saturday night. Chicken sandwiches, ice cream and cake will be served. Proceeds will be used for a week’s camping trip. Mrs. Noah Zuercher and sons Merlin of Bluffton and Kenneth of Lima were in Berne, Ind., Saturday where they were called because of the condition of her mother, Mrs. C. C. Sprunger who is seriously ill. Mrs. Eldon Tchiegg, daughter Wanda and son Gerald and Mrs. Lydia Lora and daughter Clara spent the week end in Ft. Wayne with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Steiner and family and other relatives and friends. Mrs. M. M. Kibler who has been visiting at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. W. Bash in Lorain spent the week end here. She was ac companied by Mr. and Mrs. Bash. They returned to Lorain the first of the week. Sgt. Woodrow King stationed in South Carolina, formerly of Bluff ton was here the first of the week visiting his sisters, Mrs. Bernard Schiffke and family of South Main street, and Mrs. John Blackburn and family of Elm street. Royal Thomas, student in Hahne mann Medical college, Philadelphia, has arrived here to join his wife who is visiting at the home of her parents, Mayor and Mrs. W. A. Howe. The total of War bonds purchased by Bluffton school pupils was in creased by the purchase of two $50 bonds it was announced by Supt. Ralph Lanham, Monday. Purchasers were Lois and Phyllis Marquart, daughters of Harley Marquart. Top bond salesmen in the schools were Ronald Chidester and James Nonna maker who sold each $5,000 in bonds. James Benroth of Wright Field, Dayton, is spending a fifteen day furlough with his parents, Mr. Mrs. Albert Benroth of North Main Main street. Lysle Niswander, in paratroop training at Ft. Benning, Ga., arrived the first of the week to spend a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Niswander. Dr. Oliver Steiner of Lima spent Tuesday with Miss Alice Ludwig of Poplar street and attended funeral services of Mrs. Mary Jane Ludwig in the afternoon. In honor of his thirty-second birthday anniversary, eighteen guests were entertained at dinner at the home of Nelson Steiner of North Lawn avenue, Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Stratton, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Augsburger and Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Stratton of Col. Grove spent the week end at the John Swisher cottage at Carpenter Lake, Mich. Miss Donna Lou Stratton of Col. Grove is spending a week at the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Augsburger and family and attending Daily Vacation Bible school. Mr. and Mrs. George Blackwood and daughters Joann and Judy of Detroit spent the week end with Mrs. Blackwood’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Benroh of North Main street. Ne Ison Hauenstein of the Air Transport Command. Mrs. S. H. Stepleton of North Lawn avenue left Tuesday for Peoria, III., to assist in the care of her daughter Mrs. J. M. Springer who is convalescing at her home in that city following an operation which she underwent at Methodist hospital in Peoria two weeks ago.
