Mefferd, south of Bluffton spent the week end visit ing at the home of their son, Arthur Mefferd and family in Port Clinton. James Herrman' of the Navy will report for duty next Monday after spending a thirty days’ leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Herr mann of North Main street. Cpl. Howard Marquart is spending a 45 day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Marquart of Or ange township and Miss Doris Cuth erall of Norfolk, Va. Geo. Radebaugh of Toledo, recent ly discharged from the Army Air Force spent the week end with his sister, Mrs. Albert Augsburger and Mrs. Elmer Fett and families. Mr. and Mrs. Lysle Cahill and lit tle daughter of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Marshall of Rockport, Mrs. Eli Hartman and Mrs. Allen McClure were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cahill of Jefferson street. Pvt. Marion Marquart left Friday morning for Camp Atterbury, Ind., after spending a 45 day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mar quart and family of Orange township. From Camp Atterbury he will go to Camp Siebert, Alabama. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rupright spent Monday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. John Marquart and daughter Patty. Their eldest son Earl Rupright, ar rived home Saturday having been dis charged from the Navy after 12 months overseas sendee. Mrs. Raymond Reynolds with her son Charles left Monday for an extended visit with her husband’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Reynolds of Monahans, Texas. Ttiey were ac companied by the former’s brother, Gerald Augsburger of Dayton. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Steiner and sons Bobby and Billy and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Herr and family attended the Army Air Force fair at Wright field in Dayton, Sunday. The fair comprised an extensive exhibit of' air force equipment used during the war. Lt. and Mrs. Richard Caris who spent the past month here left Tues day on a motor trip to Bradford, Va., where Lt. Caris who is in naval ser vice will report for duty. They are making the trip by way of Great Smokies scenic route. Mrs. Caris is the former Betty Triplett of South Main street. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carr of Union township entertained at dinner, Sun day: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Haas and family and Mr. and Mrs. John Will iams of Bellevue Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Niswander, Mr. and Mrs. Racine War ren and Mrs. James Suter of Bluff ton. Mrs. J. A. Warren who underwent an operation for goiter at Rheinfrank hospital in Perrysburg was removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Van Meter near Pandora where she is spending two weeks before going to her home in Orange township. Mrs. Vera Alice Diller and Mrs. Veldean Caris spent several days last week in Chicago visiting Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Schultz and family, formerly of Bluffton. They were ac companied by Mrs. Caris’ brother, Harvey L. Moser, Jr., and two bud dies who returned to the naval train ing station at Great Lakes, Ill., after visiting here. Edwin Niswander who underwent surgery at Jefferson hospital in Philadelphia, September 10 has been brought to his home north of Bluff ton on the county line. Following his removal from the hospital he was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Klinefelter at Mechan icsburg, Pa., where he spent two weeks before being removed to his home here. BLUFFTON, OHIO Mrs. Cui Balmer of South Slain street is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Reiss in Columbus. Mrs. J. M. Mumma is ill at her home on North Jackson street. Mrs. Mumma, aged 92, is believed to be Bluffton’s oldest resident. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Suter and Miss Sarah Amstutz visited at the home of Mrs. Joel Amstutz and fam ily of Col. Grove, Sunday. Mrs. Amos Tschiegg and Mrs. George Reed accompanied by their sister, Mrs. Rhodes of Tiffin left Tuesday morning for Aitken, Minn., to attend the funeral services of their sister. Mrs. Stepler returned home with them to visit relatives and friends here. A birthday dinner was given in the home of Mrs. Maiy Young, Sun day in honor of her son, Charles. Present were Charles Young and family, Clair Schoonover and fam ily, Clarence Y'oung, LuRcna Young and Mrs. Mary Y’oung. Mrs. M. W. Baumgartner and daughter Betty of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Baumgartner and daughter Mrs. Geo. Swank, Jr., of Michawaka, Ind., and Lt. and Mrs. Neil Baumgartner of Robins Field, Ga., were week end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Bogart of Cherry street. Miss Jennie Beery, formerly cap tain in the Army Nurse corps dur ing the war, is visiting at the home of hei sister, Mrs. Clayton Murray and family of West Elm street and other relatives and friends here. An other sister, Mrs. Lola Hartzler of Denver is expected here for a visit next month and Miss Beery will ac company Mrs. Hartzler on her re turn to Denver. Sgt. Norman Beidler, who has been overseas in the European theatre of war is enrolled in a science course at the American university, Shrivenham, England, it was learned the first of the week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Beidler of South Jack son street. Sgt. Beidler was called to military service after completing his freshman year in Bluffton col lege. Mt. Cory Mr. and Mrs. George Quinby, Ruth Ghaster and Chester Huber of Bluff ton were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Della Senker the occasion being in honor of Mrs. Spinker’s birthday. They also called on Mrs. Claude Pel ton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamlin, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hammill and Mrs. Gertrude Platz. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Knapp and children of Akron were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dull Battles. Mrs. Med Murray of Bluffton is vis iting her daughter and family in Springfield. The soy beans are keeping the Mt. Cory elevator busy these days. Mrs. Nettie Pitzen is spending a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. Jen nie Flick in Lima. The Boy Scout troop of Mt. Cory held a supper Monday evening for their parents and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Trask have moved into the Falk property on Main street. Mrs. Trask was formerly La von Falk. Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Wolfrom at tended the wedding of Robert Shultz in Toledo, recently. Mr. and Mrs. John Watkins spent Sunday in Lima visiting Mrs. Dorsey Huber. Willard Kra mer called on Mr. and Mrs. Ami Nonnamaker and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moore, Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Whistler visited relatives in Sidney, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Lugibihl of Bluffton are on their way to Cali for and are stopping in Indianapolis to visit an uncle. The Steinman Lumber Co. is re modeling the old Ewing building for their offices. East Orange Mrs. Estes Sanders was a recent visitor of her sister and family in Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. The mid-week prayer meeting of the Riley Creek Baptist church will be held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Jones on Wednesday even ing, Oct. 24th. The Woman’s Missionary meeting met in the home of Mrs. Marte Wolfley of Bluffton last Wednesday afternoon with 20 members and 5 guests present.
