Mitchel], of Pandora, was named chairman of the Putnam County Infantile drive, which will be held from Jan. 14 to Jan. 31. Rev. Mitchell is pastor of the Pandora Missionary church. Nelson Schumacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Menno Schumacher, of the former Mulberry school district in the southeast part of Riley township left the forepart of December for Europe with a ship load of cattle in tended for the European relief project in Poland. His brother Arthur, who lives north of Pandora, was sent to a Maryland port with cattle from, this vicinity also and may be sent abroad as an attendent with a ship load of cattle. The Mennonite churches of this community and Bluff ton are sending to the needy Euro peans to help them revive and re stock their cattle industry destroyed by the ravages of war. Children of the Methodist church Sunday school gave their Christmas program, Sunday morning. Miss Zoa Frantz, of Rensselaer, Ind., is visiting her sister Mrs. R. A. Krohn and other relatives here and at Ottawa during the Christmas va cation. Miss Frantz teaches in a girls school at Rensselaer. The Grace Mennonite church pre sented its childrens’ Christmas pro gram, Monday evening. The St. John childrens program was also held on Monday evening. School children gave their Christ mas program Friday afternoon. Miss Patricia Decker of Bowling Green, is spending vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Decker. Robert Ewing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ewing, who recently received his discharge from the Army has opened an auto service and repair shop in Findlay. Lysle Crow arrived home last week having received his discharge. His wife, a teacher in the Pandora high school was the former Evelyn Hilty, daughter of Mrs. Adam Hilty. Rev. Forrest Musser and family moved to their new pastorate charge in Connecticut this week. The Mus ser family have been greatly liked in hte community and will be greatly missed by the Grace Mennonite con gregation and by others of this com munity. Miss Carolyn Krohn is home from Ft. Wayne, Ind., Bible School on vacation. Marylin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Benton, who recently under went an appendectomy at Bluffton hospital is recovering at her home east of Pandora. Major F. D. Rodabaugh, husband of the former Lois Neiswander arriv ed here from China last week. Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Eck. Mrs. Rolland Eisenbach, Henry and Abe Hilty were at Ft. Wayne, Ind., Satur day afternoon to call on Miss Minnie Hilty at the hospital. They reported Miss Hilty getting along from her injuries as well as could be expected. The Edwin Small family of Jack son, Mich., spent the week end here with Mrs. David Basinger and family. Mr. and Mrs. L. Shirl Hatfield daughters Catherine and Joan and L. Shirl Hatfield. Jr., spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hatfield at Grand Rapids, Mich. Miss Catherine Hatfield, who is taking nurses training at the Univer* sity of Michigan hospital at Ann Arbor, "was home several days the past week. L. Shirl Hatfield, Jr., who was in the European theatre of war twenty months arrived home last week. Rev. P. J. A reception and covered dish din ner were served at the Grace Men nonite church Sunday, after the services, in honor of Rev. and Mrs. Musser and daughters, who left for Connecticut this week. Elam Suter, who lives northeast of Pandora, was elected president of the Putnam county Farm Bureau. Mrs. Suter was elected as one of the four women directors of the association. Mrs. N. N. Soldner, another Riley township member was also elected as a director. The Laurel Bracy family and Mrs. Amos Bracy and daughter, Clara, were dinner guests of Mrs. Jesse Hilty and Mrs. Clara Light, Sunday. Descendents of the late Isaac Hilty were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Eck, Christmas Day. Usually 30 to 35 relatives enjoy the day to gether. Postmaster Hiram Basinger report that the carpenters are busily engag ed in getting the rooms ready in the P. A. Amstutz building, for the Post Office to be moved into. It, however, may take quite a while before the office is moved. Editor Iner Basinger, of the Pan dora Times, and Mrs. Basinger visited relatives at Parkersburg, W. Va., over the Christmas season. The Dale Snavely family Charles Anderson of Holgate, visitors at the Hiram Krohn this week. and were home home Miss Rosmary McDowell is from O. S. U., Columbus, for the holidays. Richard Cunp is spending his va cation from O. S. U.. at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cunp. The David Risser family, Bluffton, Mr. and Mrs. William Cupp. Misses Elizabeth and Lena Risser, and Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hilty and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cupp, Margery and Richard Cunp, Rocknort. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reese and family entertained Dr. and Mrs. Waldo Suter and daughter Ann. Mrs. J. C. Reese and Miss Harriet Krohn at dinner Christmas. The Suters were over night guests Christmas of Mrs. J. C. Reese. Handel’s “Messiah” was given at the Grace Mennonite church Sunday night under the direction of R. A. Lantz. Cory has arrived home, discharged from the army, af ter 41 months in service, 31 months of which were spent in England in the Army Air force. Seaman 1/c Gale Griffith of Great Lakes, Ill., is spending the holidays with his family and Mrs. Nettie Pit zene. A. H. Clymer, north of Mt. Cory is in a serious condition at the Bluffton Community hospital. Mr. and Mrs. George Quinby were Sunday evening callers on Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Jones. Ths Triplett Electrical Instrument Co. let their workers enjoy a two day’s holiday, Monday and Tuesday. A Christmas program was held Sunday evening in Mt. Cory Evangel ical church, in spite of the condition of the reoads a good many were in attendance. Gladys Doty, north of Mt. Cory, was brought home from the Bluffton hospital by Diller ambulance one day last week. Mrs. Tom Hall of Dayton is spend ing Christ mas with her mother, Nettie P’tzene, and sister and family.
