Mrs. Clarence Hickey of Toledo and Donald Flick and sons Milton and David of Detroit visited the past week with their mother, Mrs. Martha Flick of South Main street. Chas. Bormuth, rural mail carrier who was injured in an automobile collision in March has been removed from Bluffton hospital to his home in Jenera in the Basinger ambulance. Dean and Mrs. H. H. Huber and Miss Jane Rayle of Ada were din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Huber and family, Sunday. Mrs. L. L. Huber of State College, Pa., was an afternoon caller. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Niswander of Lima and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bucher spent the week end in Cleve land attending the Metropolitan op era numbers “The Maked Ball” and “La Boheme.” Among the Bluffton people in Cleveland the past w’eek attending the Metropolitan opera were Mrs. Don Patterson, Mrs. Arden Baker, Mrs. Harry Bogart and Miss Caro lyn Romey. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Balmer and Miss Rose Hoobing of Lima were entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Cribley, Sunday, in honor of Mr. Balmer’s birthday an niversary. Basinger who has been in Arizona for benefit of his health is returning to his home in Orange township. He is convalescing fol lowing a major operation which he underwent six weeks ago. Mrs Ross Bogart of Cherry street is a patient in St. Luke’s hospital, Cleveland, for observation. Mr. and Mrs. Bogart spent the past two weeks in Cleveland where they visit ed at the home of their daughter, Mrs. M. W. Baumgartner and fam ily before she entered the hospital. Mr. Bogart returned home the first of the week. Diller ambulance removals—Mrs. David Culp and infant daughter from Bluffton hospital to their home in Lima Mrs. Don Armbrecht and in fant son from Findlay hospital to their home near Arcadia Mrs. Wal ter Roush of Jenera from Bluffton hospital to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Basinger, South Main street. Norman Sumney who was recently discharged from the Navy together with his wife and little daughter have arrived here from Port Chica go, Calif., and are making their home temporarily with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Sumney of near Lafayette. Rev. and Mrs. John Elwood and son of Richwood also were visitors at the Sumney home last week. THE! BLUFFTON NEWS, BLUFFTON, OHIO Bluffton betters Lose To Central Bluffton High netters lost a 4 to 1 match to Lima Central Tuesday afternoon on the Bluffton courts, the second time this season that they have been beaten by the Dragons. Lone victory of the Pirate raquet men was scored by Roger Linden, who has been undefeated so far this season in his No. 3 position on the team. He defeated Ted Stepleton, 6-2, 3-6, 11-9. Bracy lost to King of Central, and Stearns of Bluffton was drop ped by Tschantz in a three match contest, to round out singles play. King and Tschantz, of Central, teamed to defeat Bracy-Stearns in doubles, and Bixel and Burcky of Bluffton lost the first set to Cen tral in an abbreviated match. Lenna Haas Weds Leland Nonnamaker Miss Lenna Haas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haas of Raw son became the bride of Leland Nonnamaker, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Nonnamaker of Jenera last Thursday evening at 6:30 o’clock in Riley Creek Baptist church. Rev. Walter Purdy officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss LaDonna Haas and Max Nonnamaker, brother of the groom was best man. The bride wore a gold wool suit with navy accessories while her at tendant wore a suit of brown gabar dine with rose accessories. Baskets of lilacs and snapdragons and seven branch candelabra formed altar dec orations and a musical program was played by Miss Florice King. After the ceremony a reception for thirty guests was held in the home of the bride. Following a wed ding trip thru the southern states they will live northwest of Bluffton. The bride was graduated from Mt. Cory high school in the class of 1944 and the groom was graduated from Rawson high school in 1941. Settlement Sgt. Leroy Lugibill is spending a furlough with his home folks. James Oberly returned home the last of the week with his honorable discharge from the navy. James Schey also received his dis charge from the navy one day last week. Pfc. Hiram Kohli, Jr., left for San Francisco ,Calif., after spending a two weeks furlough at home. The members of the Gratz family enjoyed Sunday dini^r at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Gratz and sons Arthur and Allan. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Milton Gratz, daughter Helen and son Clair, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rader and son Blaine of Monroe, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gratz and daughters Linda Carol of Lima Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gratz and children Lairy and Sandra, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Hilty and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Briden baugh and son Dale and daughter Judith Kay. Mrs. Charles Kinsinger submitted to an operation for appendicitis one day last week. Howard Howell is assisting Rol land Burkhart clipping sheep. Peter Schumacher is at present working for Stanley Burkhart. Prospects for fruit in this area are none too bright due to the heavy frosts during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gallant and children visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Lugibill, Sunday. Edward Bogart purchased the Wal ter Ballinger farm. Mr. and Mrs. Ballinger expect to go to France in the near future where they are to make their home. Arthur Schumacher is awaiting definite word relative to leaving for Europe with another shipload of dairy cattle to be sent for relief. Re cent shipments have gone mostly to Poland. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank all the friends and neighbors for the aid and sympathy extended during the illness and death of our beloved mother and grandmother also the hospital nurses for their untiring care, Rev. Smucker who officiated at the funeral and all those who assisted and for the beautiful flowers. Edwin E. Lory & Grandchildren On April 1, prospects for poultry indicated a decrease of 5 to 10 per cent in chickens and of 10 to 15 per cent in turkeys in 1946, as compared with 1945 production. Owners of a Cincinnati dairy com pany were fined $500 each in federal court for wartime violations of quota restrictions on use of milk solids for making ice cream and frozen dairy foods. Judgment was imposed Mar. 19, 1946, upon conviction for 28 vio lations. Quota restrictions were im posed to allow equitable food distri bution. CONDITION IMPROVED E. M. (Mike) Banner, former Bluffton resident, now living in Fos toria who has been in the hospital at that place critically ill with in juries sustained in a fall from a scaffold a month ago is improving. Clubs, Judges and Societies Eastern Star Bluffton Eastern Star chapter will meet next Tuesday night at 8 o’clock. There will be initiation and refresh ments. Gertrude Hoy Circle Mothers and guests of members of the Gertrude Hoy Missionary Circle will be entertained at a tea in the St. John’s Reformed church basement, Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. “The Festival of the Christian Home” will be the topic to be dis cussed by a guest speaker. Named Head of Guild Mrs. W. A. Amstutz of Bluffton, former treasurer of the Indian Lake Regional Women’s Guild of the Northwest Ohio Synod of the Evan gelical and Reformed church was named president of the organization at its fifth annual spring conference held at Upper Sandusky, Thursday. Hold Style Show The Bluffton college Home Economics club will hold a style show in the College chapel, this Wednesday night at 8 o’clock. Dur ing the show organ music will be furnished by Claren Sommer. Joan McCarty and Harriet Schutz will read the script. Camilla Gorby has charge of decorations. Mennonite Missionary Society The Women’s Missionary society of the First Mennonite church will meet at the M. C. C. room Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock.
