Eli Augsburger of South Jackson street who has been a patient in Lima Memorial hospital was remov ed Tuesday evening to his home on South Jackson street, where he is convalescing. Mrs. Russell Leiber and sons Don nie and Dwane, Mrs. O. E. Leiber, Mrs. Cal Leiber and Mrs. Calvin Stettler visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wiebe of Willard and Mrs. Wm. Bixler, Mrs. Sam King and Delvin and Stella Kirchhofer attended the homecoming and sixtieth anniversary of Salem Mennonite church near Dalton in Wayne county, Sunday. Rev. A. S. Rosenberger, formerly of Bluffton is the pastor. The Bluffton party was accompanied by Meredith Schumach er of Canby, Oregon, who has been visiting here at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Peter Gratz. She remained in Wayne county for a week’s visit. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gratz and daughter Martha Faith drove to Ft. i Wayne, Sunday, where they met Mr. and Mrs. John V. Hayes and three children of South Bend, Ind., for a picnic dinner at Sweeney park. Mrs. Gratz and Mrs. Hayes were students at the Chicago School of Applied Arts twenty-two years ago and have never met since. During the I intervening years, however, a round robin letter has been circulated be tween them and a third close friend, Miss Marget Dickey, also a student at the Applied Arts school in Chic ago and now art instructor in Ana costia high school in Washington, D. Althaus of Lewisburg are visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Amstutz of South Jackson street. Mrs. Amos Tschiegg of Bluffton accompanied by her sister, Kathryn Rhoads of Tiffin spent several days at Campbellsville, Ky., the past week. Mrs. J. E. Linscheid of Newton, Kansas, is visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Gordon Bixel and family of Spring street. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morgan and family of Sylvania spent the week end with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. M. Niswander and family of South Jackson street. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Niswander and son Dean of South Main street will leave Thursday on a two weeks’ motor trip thru Canada stopping at Montreal and Quebec. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Thut and Mrs. H. W. Althaus of this place and Raymond Thut of Springfield are spending the week in New York and other points of interest. Mrs. Helen Wells and Berda Ewing of Ft. Smucker and Joe will go from there to Gulfport, Miss., to spend some time with David, an other son, w-ho is with the Gulfport Health unit. David expects to receive his discharge in a few’ weeks. Pandora Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krohn and sons James and Robert of Chicago, Ill., who spent several days with his mother, Mrs. Zella Krohn, returned to their home, Saturday. Mrs. M. D. Headington and child ren Beverly and Danny, of West Orange, N. J., arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Steiner on Tuesday evening of last week. Mrs. Headington and son had gone via Clarksburg, W. Va., where they spent several days with Mrs. R. K. Steiner and sons. From there they went to West Mansfield to visit the W. C. Art Exhibit Mrs. George Woods, New York city artist who is visiting here this week will exhibit some of her work in lifelike animal pastels at the home of Mrs. Ralph Stearns of Spring street Thursday night from 8 to 10 o’clock. The exhibit is open to the public. Mrs. Woods received her art training in Oberlin college and Cooper union in New York. Farm Bureau Council Farm Bureau council No. 11 was entertained in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rusmisel, Friday night. Philip Hilty led a discussion on the topics of inflation and cooperatives. Bridal Ehower The Capsule Pal club of Bluffton Community hospital held a picnic at Buckeye lake, Thursday evening fol lowed by a miscellaneous shower in honor of Miss Clorinda Luginbill of the nursing staff who will be married in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Hostettler of Lima visited in the Christ Basinger home several days last week. Mrs. Sewell Pender returned to her home in Miami, Florida. She flew back on a through plane from Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meese, of Little Falls, N. J., called on friends here recently. Mrs. Meese was the former Leslie Reece. Halton McBride of Lima called on relatives and friends here Sunday. Dr. R. K. Steiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Steiner and who was in the army five years, will return to his home at Clarksburg, W. Va., from New York City where he has been taking special work in Ortho dontia, the straightening of teeth, and will open a dental office in Clarksburg. The Putnam county Grange home beautification tour will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7th. Tour starts at 10:00 o’clock at the Carl Wehrly home, southeast of Gilboa. The next stop will be at the Fred Hector home, north of Gilboa, thence to the home of David and Francis Leh man on Rt. 12 near Pandora. A basket dinner will be held at the Pandora school park. Following dinner they will go to the Dr. H. A. Neiswander home and then to the C. D. Steiner home. Anyone inter ested is welcome to tour with the group.
