With five successive wins to their credit and an impressive total of 150 points so far this fall, the Oil ers have the best record of any Ohio collegiate team. Bluffton College Will Play Findlay In Homecoming Game Here Saturday Last week the Findlay crew tuned up for Bluffton with an 18 to 15 conquest over Defiance, the first time this season they have been ex tended to marching to victory. Only 39 points have been scored against the Oilers in their five tilts, an average of less than eight per game and the Beavers offense is un dergoing a lot of polishing this week in an effort to come up with an attack capable of cracking the defensive alignment of their old foes. Bluffton High’s defense craeked in the fourth quarter of a hard-fought contest at Harmon field last Friday night, and St. Marys added three more touchdowns to one scored in the first half as the visitors downed the Pirates by a score of 26 to 0. In suffering their fourth straight league setback the Pirate offense was impotent all the way except for a brief first-quarter fiareup when the locals moved to the St. Marys 15-yard line where an attempted field goal was blocked. At the same time, Bluffton’s de fense was performing in stalwart fashion, and St. Marys on its part had been unable to make a scoring bid until the first half virtually had ended. Then with the ball on their own 35, a St. Marys pass clicked, and an end broke loose to romp 65 yards for a touchdown. Bluffton held well again through out the third period, evcept for the closing minutes when the visitors started a 58-yard touchdown march, climaxed after the start of the fourth stanza when the St. Marys fullback drove over from the one yard stripe. For sheer feather-bedding, thia mock work proposal takes the cake. But it Is only one of 44 “rules” demands filed by the leaders of the operating unions. If all these demands were granted, they would cost the railroads an added BILL10N DOLLARS TKAR. Increased Wages, Too On top of these “rules” changes, the leaders of the operating unions have filed an additional demand for a wage increase of over 30 per cent If granted, this would bo an added cost to the rail* roads of $400,000,000 One favorable asject in the situa tion is the fact that Bluffton ordin arily plays one of its best games of the year against Findlay, and performing before a home audience for the first time may be an incent ive for the Beavers to come up with a better performance than that seen in the team’s first four tilts. Last week at Ashland, Bluffton made a ball game of it for nearly two quarters, before being worn down by a high-powered offensive team that finally rolled to a 42 to 6 victory. Ashland tallied 14 points in the first quarter, but Bluffton came back into the running in the opening min utes of the second quarter with a touchdown by Alderfer to trail, 14 to 6. From that point, however, Ashland started rolling to garner 15 points in the second period none in the third, and then tapering off with 13 in the fourth stanza. Muffton High Drops'League Game To St. Marys By Score Of 26-0 From that point, St. Marys was in Bluffton’s backyard the rest of the way with the third touchdown set up when St. Marys returned a At your store ... A few minutes later, Bluffton tried a desperate pass from their own goal line, with the ball intercepted by St. Marys on the Bluffton 30 and run back for a touchdown that concluded the evening’s scoring.
