ONE WORD
by Evan B. Johnson
There is one word that cannot bo defined
Save in the memories it bring* to mind
When we were cold or hungry or afraid
We called but this one word to summon\aid
When skies were overcast, how well we knew
The magic word that made the heavens blue
When troublea came that seemed too much to b*ar,
Our trembling lipa would uae it as a prayer
Above the tumuli of the world it’a heard
Strong men, like helpless babes, cry out the word
Defining it but tells the smallest part
Of what it means down deep in every heart
There can never, ever be another
Word so sweet and comforting as MOTHER,
