A ten-day campaign to raise a $100,000 building fund will open Sunday Map Plans for Summer Street Repair Program (Concluded from page 1) gram entailing the expenditure of approximately $2,500 will be pre sented for the approval of muni cipal council at its next meeting by Street Commissioner H. L. Coon. Now engaged in making a survey of work most urgently required Coon wall go over projected plans with the street committee of the council before submitting his recom mendations. With street repair materials at peak prices and municipal funds cramped by shortages, the summer improvement program will be a re stricted one, the mayor said this week, and only urgently needed work will be included in the street commissioner’s proposals. Owe for Cherry Street The mayor pointed out that one factor limiting what might other wise be a broader program is the necessity of starting to retire a debt of more than $3,000 incurred four years ago in re-surfacing Cherry street from Main street to the Nick el Plate railroad. Since that time, only one small payment has been made on retirement of the debt. At the same time that the street commissioner is making plans for this summer’s improvements, town workmen are nearing the completion of an extensive street patching pro gram. Streets and roads suffered severe damage last winter and the work occasioned on the town’s hard-sur- faced thorofares has been much greater than usual, the street com missioner said. Russell Swiler, market mana ger, says about 1,000,000,000 pounds of fresh foods are handled on that market every year and that almost all produce used in the city and in northern Ohio is sold there. The total amount of fruits and vegetables used as food in the U. S. has increased each year since 1940.
