Due to the limited num ber reporting for organization, teams were selected w’ith only five players on each. In this way, four teams were selected, the thought being, the more the merrier. This week there were a few newcomers, Bob Zimmerman, Clyde Fisher, Dick Rockey, Jack Clark and Bob Luginbuhl. As soon as the captains can get together, they will select players from this group in order of their first selec tion. Next Monday the same games will be scheduled. First game Rockets vs. Cornhusk ers 7:30. Second game Midgets vs. Tailend ers 8:30. The teams will play 20 minute halves with a 10 minute intermis sion. Those playing the second game will be allowed a 10 minute warmup. We can add new players anytime. Anyone having next Monday evening free can come to the high school gym and play on a team that same night. Sportsmen Lose Corkwell Wilson Sports of Ottawa defeated Bluffton Sportsmen, 28 to 29, last Wednesday night at Ottawa for the team’s eighth straight victory. K. Moore and G. Saturday night the Beavers will meet a strong Capital university team at Columbus, and next Tuesday night they will take on Findlay col lege at Findlay. Following those two starts, the Bluffton team will have only one more game before the holidays, a tilt with Ohio Northern at Ada on December 16. Last Wednedsay night at Bowling Green, the Beavers fell before the top-ranking Falcons, 73 to 26. Half time score was Bowling Green 33, Bluffton 17. Against Bluffton, the Bow’ling Green coach used 19 men. A former Bluffton player, Ernie Raber, tied as high-point man of the evening, garnering 11 points against the After racking up their first victory of the season at Carey last Friday night by a score of 39 to 31, •Bluffton High cagers will attempt to repeat at home this Saturday in a tilt with New Knoxville on the Bluff ton court. The lanky Rangers will be one of the finest teams the Pirates will have on their card this winter, and some indication of the sort of scor ing local fans can anticipate can be seen in results of the New Knoxville opener against Buckland, which the Rangers won, by a score of 79 to 44. New Knoxville plays Indiana style basketball, and fans can expect wide-open game with plenty of thrills in the Saturday night assignment. Following the tilt with the Rang ers, Bluffton will face only two more foes before the holidays. On Dec. 17, the Pirates will go to Hicksville, and a Dec. 21 meeting with Pandora will be on the local court. Last Friday night at Carey, the Lowry-coached outfit broke into the win column for the first time with a 39 to 31 decision, after leading all the way. Bluffton held a slender edge at Halftime, 22 to 19, but pulled away to a more comfortable margin in the last half. Don Schmidt and Ray Wilch paced the Pirate scoring attack, with Schmidt racking up 13 points, while Wilch was getting 11.
