Activity topped that of the preced ing week, previous high mark, when 254 persons took pail in a four-day program. Included in the activity have been playground events for kiddies on the grade school, the afternoon program at Harmon field and tennis instruc tion each Monday and Wednesday evening. Big Swimming Turnout Swimming trips to the Columbus Grove pool continue a popular phase of the summer program, and biggest turnout of the season was last Thurs day when 78 children were taken to the Grove pool in the bus provided by the town. Lose in Baseball In Midget baseball competition, for players up to 14 years of age, the Bluffton team lost two contests. One defeat was meted out by Ada at that place by a score of 13 to 10 and the other loss was to Columbus Grove Ruckeye Coach softball team will play a double-header at Harmon field beginning at 7:30 p. m. next Monday night, in an effort to extend their six-game winning streak during which they have played their best ball of the season. In the twin-bill Monday, the Coaches will open against Bluffton Sandlot Specials, and in the second contest will tangle with Lima Ord nance Depot, for which Curly Brat ton is the star of the pitching staff. The Sandlot Specials, made up of Harmon field recreation league play ers, are managed by Buck Klay and Charles Stonehill. Three victories in play during the last week boosted the Coach men’s win streak to six in a row. Harmon Field Director Robert Burkholder has a squad of more than 30 boys for his team, which has shown good improvement since opening of the season. Next home game for the Midgets will be against Ada on the Harmon field diamond on Friday, July 29. The game will start a^ 6 p. m. Horse Shoes Horse shoe is becoming a popular activity at the field, with one court already in use and two more to be completed soon. All Girls Night An all-girls program will bestaged at Harmon field at 6:15 p. m. this Friday, with softball, croquet, shuf fleboard and other activities included on the program. Director Burkholder will be in charge, and girls including those of high school age are invited to participate. and bested Pandora Russells, 13 to 8. At Kenton, Lee Wilkins was the winning hurler, and also led his mates at the plate with two hits in three official chances. To win the contest, the Buckeye team came up with three runs in the fifth inning and four in the sixth to overcome a lead Kenton had held prior to the rally. The battle with Lima S. and K. was a hurler’s duel between Bill Stonehill of the Coachmen and Wil let of the opposition. Stonehill gave up only four hits and his hurling foe allowed five. Ken Bracy, who started against Pandora, gave way to Wilkins in the sixth, with the score tied at 9-all, and the Coachmen went on to vic tory by getting four runs in their half of th same inning to go on to victory. During the week, the Triplett out fit will take the field against Pan dora, Fostoria, Ottoville and Tiffin. Games on the home card include a Friday night contest with Fos toria, and a tilt next Tuesday against the strong Tiffin Dairy out fit. In the other games scheduled for the week, the Triplett crew will journey to Pandora for an appear ance under the lights this Thursday night, and next Sunday night the Bluffton nine will play at Ottoville. Fostoria and Tiffin, playing here on Friday and Tuesday, are current leaders in the Triple A Northwestern Ohio league and boast two of the best-rounded teams in the circuit. Both have excellent pitching and their hitting and fielding have been consistently good so far in loop play. In play during the last week, Triplett softballers won over St. Marys Goodyear Rubber at that place by a score of 12 to 7, and dropped a 6 to 1 decision to Fos toria at Fostoria. Against St. Marys Lewis, Stone hill and Burkholder each clouted two hits.
